Remember in 2002, Michael Vick’s first full season as the Falcon’s starter, when he beat the Minnesota Vikings in overtime after scampering 46 yards for the score. Yeah, me too. I remember watching it on Sports Center again and again. It was like poetry in motion watching the Falcon’s star run left and right breaking tackles at will in route to his game winning touchdown.
Vick is questionably the most exciting player we have in the present day NFL. When he laces them up, anything can happen, and usually will. But, is there a sadistic, dog fighter underneath the play making Falcon star?

Nascar First Half Report
Has there been a better season for NASCAR than this one? We’ve had everything – close finishes, fights, suspensions and high-profile moves, accompanied by the soundtrack of drivers whining and the screech of cars prior to the crash.
What a Beautiful Game
I don’t get out much. My normal day usually involves myself watching countless re-runs of Sports Center, playing online solitaire, and reciting the lyrics of the South Park theme song. My daily agenda consists of three words; eat, sleep, and repeat. So when a few of my new buddies called me up to play a fun round of golf yesterday, I said, “Hell, why not?”
The Tempest
Of course it matters. This is Hank Aaron we’re talking about here, enduring proof that greatness can be discovered within consistency, Hank Aaron, class act, a hero in this and future generations, transcendent of the vicious scorn that compromised his time. This is Hank Aaron, baseball’s all-time home run king, a living legend.
This is his mark, what he earned. That is the symbol of a bygone era, what could have existed that never came to pass, what should have been but never was.
It’s an idea, a fantasy, for those who wouldn’t quit dreaming.
The Great Mistake
The 2007 NFL football season is approaching fast, and that can only mean one thing. Fantasy Football is back. It is a life long tradition of many football fanatics to gather at a particular facility, get completely drunk, and pick football players that surely will be dancing in the end zone on numerous occasions this year and help bring home some hardware to the family household.

Sometimes I Sit and Think
The Guru’s Inner Most Thoughts about Sports and Stuff…
A lot of things have been going in and outside the world of sports here lately. And I haven’t had the opportunity to weigh in on much of them due to my lack of time. But SportsColumn has been too good to me for me just leave you guys hanging. So here are some of the things I’ve been sitting and thinking about…
I have tried to hold back. God knows I’ve tried. But this has gone too far.
Earlier this year, the University of Florida announced that it would add women’s lacrosse to its array of varsity sports by the end of the decade. This came after a lengthy study by the University Athletic Association to determine what sport, if any, should be added.
We are now more than a third of the way through the baseball season. The N.L. West is suddenly the best division in baseball, the last two world champions are struggling, and the Yankees are making their inevitable surge. Time to revise my preseason picks. Let’s see how they stack up.
–My pre-season picks are the ones that stand throughout the season; this is just the picks I wish I’d made at this point. Preseason picks are in italics. And all stats and numbers are through Tuesday, June 19.–
