Should Athletes be referred to as Role Models?

Are athletes role models? Many of them maintain that they should not be looked upon as role models. However, society on the other hand calls upon athletes to be role models to America’s youth. Therefore, athletes become role models to thousands and thousands of children, and they must accept that responsibility and act in the proper manner.

Major League Lacrosse 2007 Season Preview

by: Kyle Benson

For those of you unfamiliar with the MLL (Major League Lacrosse), it is the premier outdoor lacrosse league in the US. It started in 2001 by founder Jake Steinfeld, owner of Body by Jake. The league currently has 2 conferences (Eastern and Western) with 10 teams. In the Eastern Conference the teams are the Boston Cannons, Long Island Lizards, New Jersey Pride, Philadelphia Barrage (defending 2006 Steinfeld Cup Champion), Rochester Rattlers, and the Washinton Bayhawks. The Western Conference Teams are the Denver Outlaws, Chicago Machine, San Francisco Dragons, and the Los Angeles Riptide. There are 12 games in a season. Now that you have a little knowledge about the MLL, here is my 2007 season preview.

Red Sox look to be all smiles when October comes

Coming into the 2007 season the Boston Red Sox are going to be trying to forget about last year and focus more on a new ending that looks very much like 2004. This off-season they prove to be a team on a mission to build towards making a run in the playoffs. With the acquisitions of numerous pitching talents they seem to be listening to the age-old phrase, “Pitching wins Championships”.

NASCAR for Northerners

By Billy Fellin

NASCAR isn’t just a sport for people who consider y’all a word worthy of Webster’s Dictionary. Believe it or not, NASCAR is a sport and other people outside the South do like NASCAR. I was born in Connecticut and am a huge NASCAR fan. So here’s why people outside the South can, and do, like NASCAR.

Shut Up

By Billy Fellin

Just a few days ago, spring training began in baseball when first the pitchers and catchers then the rest of the players showed up in camp and started to work out for the 2007 season. Great, I’m already excited about the weather getting warmer (gotta love nice spring days on a college campus-girl’s shorts get shorter ever year) as well as baseball getting going. But then we get drama worthy of a high school cafeteria out of New York where A-Rod has said his friendship with Derek Jeter has “cooled”. Honestly, guys, just can it.

Man on a Rant: Breakup in the Bronx- A Norv for All Seasons- and Pippen’s Pipe Dream

I never thought I’d find myself writing these words.  I thought they’d go the distance.  I thought they were stronger than this… stronger than Andre and Steffi, stronger then Mia and Nomar.  And yet, this President’s Day weekend, the earth-shattering news broke:  Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter are no longer best friends forever.  You read that correctly, folks – A-Rod and Jeter are BFFs no more.  How will we go on?  How will we cope?  Can the Yankees even bring themselves to compete in light of the biggest of big chills?

Right.
