The 2007 NHL trade deadline has come and gone. Huge names like Todd Bertuzzi, Ryan Smith, and Mattais Nordstrom all found new homes. In the end of the bloodbath, there were over twenty-five trades. So, the biggest questions are who won the day, who is left scratching their heads, and who has a nice stock for the future? Here come the answers to those questions and more.
Here we are, the trade deadline. As the trades come flying in while I write this weeks rankings, the Sabres drop down to number two, with the Preds reclaiming their throne. Dallas has started to make moves to the top, while the Kings are the worst team in the NHL not from Philly. Where did your team end up before the deadline?
After a week off, it looks as though a change at the top has occurred. Buffalo re-claims their number one throne, but Nashville is just right behind them. Meanwhile, the trade deadline is this weekend. With Forsberg dealt, who knows what else will happen.
As the trade deadline approaches, the Preds, Wings, and Sabres seem to be comfortably on top of the NHL world. Meanwhile, the teams that are in the middle of the pack just happen to be the same ones that all the rumors are flying. Teams like Colorado, Vancouver, Carolina and Toronto have been in the mill every day for the past two weeks, along with the Flyers. Where did your team finish this week?
Gary Bettman has given his 2007 edition of the state of the National Hockey League. In it, were some very interesting statements, and like any other good Public Relations person, he tried to put the best face forward of the NHL. While he didn’t out rightly lie, he did mislead people just slightly.
Nashville is starting to run away with the power rankings. Meanwhile, the top nine did not change. In the middle of the pack, Pittsburgh has finally overtaken Boston, thanks in part to Sidney Crosby lightning up the Coyotes like a firework. Ottawa continues to impress, while the Flyers are talking with Forsberg about his future. Where did your team end up?
As we take a break for the All-Star game, the Predators find themselves on top of the NHL world, while the Sabres and Sharks also stay ahead of the Ducks. In the middle of the pack, the Senators are proving to everyone that a slow start can be overcome. At the bottom, the season is in the mail for the Kings and Flyers. Where did your team finish up the pre-All-Star break?
The Sabres keep the top spot this week, while the Predators knock Anaheim off of their perch, dropping them below number two for the first time this season. Ottawa makes their first appearance in the top ten, meaning Vancouver’s time in the limelight lasted only a week. At the bottom, the Bruins were the biggest losers this week, dropping five spots. Conversely, the Islanders pick up five spots, and find themselves in the top twenty again. Where did your team end up?
The top of the power rankings has seen the same four teams almost every week this season. Meanwhile, Martin Broudeur has become a one-man team in New Jersey willing the Devils near the top five for the first time this season. The Canucks find themselves in the top ten for the first time all season, while the Hurricanes have slipped a little, sending them down to thirteen this week.
Meanwhile, the middle of the pack sees all but the aforementioned Canucks in the northwest division. The Islanders had a tough week, as they proved their quick start is just a fluke. Phoenix has found their highest point of the season, just as “The Great One’s” fire sale begins. Where did your team end up?

There is question in Boston Bruins fans’ minds right now, “Have the Bruins recovered from their New Years hangovers?” They have lost their first 2 games since the New Year began, both against the Toronto Maples Leafs, and lost the second game against the Leafs 10-2. It seems like the only thing coach Dave Lewis has done right in the past 2 games was not letting the Bruins players talk to the press after the horrid 10-2 loss.
