Yes, a promise was made during the March Madness Chat. If Edmonton and Los Angles didn’t get their acts together, the Flyers were going to move out of the basement. The Preds and Sabres once again trade the top spot, while the Rangers were the big winners this week in the spot jump. They’re one place behind the Islanders and their crybaby coach. The 2007 NHL trade deadline has come and gone. Huge names like Todd Bertuzzi, Ryan Smith, and Mattais Nordstrom all found new homes. In the end of the bloodbath, there were over twenty-five trades. So, the biggest questions are who won the day, who is left scratching their heads, and who has a nice stock for the future? Here come the answers to those questions and more.

As the trade deadline approaches, the Preds, Wings, and Sabres seem to be comfortably on top of the NHL world. Meanwhile, the teams that are in the middle of the pack just happen to be the same ones that all the rumors are flying. Teams like Colorado, Vancouver, Carolina and Toronto have been in the mill every day for the past two weeks, along with the Flyers. Where did your team finish this week?

The Real State of the NHL

Gary Bettman has given his 2007 edition of the state of the National Hockey League. In it, were some very interesting statements, and like any other good Public Relations person, he tried to put the best face forward of the NHL. While he didn’t out rightly lie, he did mislead people just slightly.

Nashville is starting to run away with the power rankings. Meanwhile, the top nine did not change. In the middle of the pack, Pittsburgh has finally overtaken Boston, thanks in part to Sidney Crosby lightning up the Coyotes like a firework. Ottawa continues to impress, while the Flyers are talking with Forsberg about his future. Where did your team end up?

As we take a break for the All-Star game, the Predators find themselves on top of the NHL world, while the Sabres and Sharks also stay ahead of the Ducks.
