Week 3 2007 NFL Picks and Podcast

Welcome to another week of NFL picks. Somehow it’s week 3 already. Ryan tries to keep his hot streak going this week while RJ and Vegas Vinny try to bounce back from a 9-7 week. Trevor goes a solid 10-6 again. The whole NFL feels like it’s the mid-90s again. Just when you thought you had the NFL figured out, the Lions go 2-0 and the Saints are 0-2. Go figure.

The featured games this week are Niners @ Steelers, Colts @ Texans, Bengals at Seahawks, and the Cowboys at the Bears. You can download the podcast directly (running time 70 mins) or subscribe to the feed.

Roger Goodell’s Failure

Roger Goodell sent a message Thursday: if you get in trouble off the field, pray that the New York Post isn’t delivered to NFL offices; if you are caught cheating during a game, eh, no biggie.

Allegations arose Monday that the New England Patriots, winners of three of the last six Super Bowls, had been caught videotaping New York Jets’ defensive signals during the Patriots’ 38-14 win Sunday afternoon. After confiscating the tapes and issuing a private investigation, Goodell confirmed that the allegations were true.

After a very respectable week 1, we’re back with the 2007 NFL Week 2 Picks. Trevor, Ryan and RJ all went 10-6 last week. Vegas Vinny went 11-5 but lost his Lock of the Week because of the idiot Eagles special teams.

Our Look At The NFC

By Trevor Freeman

I have a question for Roger Goodell that is deeper and more important than the ones which arise from the “Pac-Man” Jones and Michael Vick situations.  It is one that needs to be kicked around and debated at the highest levels.  The burning issue that I have with the NFL is that they don’t start the season the Sunday before Labor Day.  How awesome would it be to have a consequences-free, “do you want a shot of Jose Cuervo to wash down those Yuenglings” first Sunday of football season. It would be a situation where everybody wins.  The beer companies win.  The bars win.  The fans win.  We all win.

Wake Me Up When the Season Starts

I am stuck 33,000 feet above ground on an extremely bumpy airplane in route to Orlando, Florida. My flight was delayed three hours due to who knows what back at the Philly airport. The food served on board tastes like a mixture between dog vomit and urine. (Not that I have ever tasted either.) I am squished between two dudes who really need to give Jenny Craig a call and the baby behind me won’t stop kicking my seat. The old granny in first class thinks of something new to complain about every other minute while a group of young ladies, unattractive at that, won’t stop reciting the lyrics to “Stacy’s Mom.” That song is like eight years old, find a new favorite tune. Just when I thought nothing else could possibly go wrong, I look up at the TV to see if anything worthwhile is on, only to find myself watching preseason NFL football. God, kill me now.

New York- We Have a Problem

There are a few times in a man’s life when they are more pissed off than when there is no toilet paper available after you took a gigantic dump, but let me assure you, this is one of those times.

I have been a New York Giant at heart ever since I came out of the womb. I have witnessed their ups and downs, good times and bad. I attended their 41-0 complete domination of the Minnesota Vikings in the NFC Championship, as well as their 34-7 Super Bowl loss against the Baltimore Ravens when Trent Dilfer looked as if he was John Elway.

A Story Of Rebirth

by Trevor Freeman

As I was sitting on the balcony of my Opa’s (grandfather in Dutch) apartment in Hawaii he said to me, “You haven’t written an article on Bill Walsh yet.”  I told him that I had been meaning to but had gotten distracted with the amount of options that Hawaii can offer a honeymooning couple.  He responded, “Make sure you write something about the greatest coach the NFL has ever seen on the airplane home.”
