Taking in a game in the lion’s den

Back in August my sister’s boyfriend, now fiancée bought me tickets for the Jets-Patriots game in Foxboro. At first I thought to myself, why would I want to drive over three hours to see the helpless Jets get shellacked by New England IN THEIR STADIUM?

10 NFL Questions: Week 10

Last week, my picks got crushed for the most part. I did get the big one right–Indy over New England. However, last week showed that the Falcons are way too inconsistent to win the NFC South, the Bears aren’t the all-powerful force they have been made out to be, and that the Rams and Vikings may have peaked earlier in the year. I was wrong on all counts. This week, we’ll learn something huge–which team has the power in the NFC. In a conference that lacks consistently good teams, the two best will face off. The Giants and Bears battle for conference supremacy, while the Seahawks and Rams play for the NFC West lead. It’s all about the NFC as we head down the stretch of the 2006 NFL season.

In the NFL- Clark Kent is every team’s Superman!

By all sports standards they are underpaid, undervalued, underappreciated, and totally unprepared.  The average man called upon at a moments notice to do the heroic feats of a superhero. Completely anonymous to many fans and media, yet expected to perform as a superstar.  No other position in sports demands more for less.  These masked men are football’s backup quarterbacks.

Blogging the NFL – Week 9

Game of the Week:
Indianapolis Colts at New England Patriots – This is the second week in a row the Colts have been featured in the Game of the Week. I am expecting a different result this week however. I know that at the pro level you are not supposed to have “let down” weeks but playing in New England the week after playing in Denver is a death sentence.

I’m going with the Pats to win the best Sunday night match-up of the season to this point.

Game Not Worth Watching:
Miami Dolphins at Chicago Bears – In 1985 the Miami Dolphins were the only team to beat the Chicago Bears who could have been the best team of the modern era. No chance of that happening Sunday.

The Bears will destroy the Dolphins and continue what has been a miserable season in South Florida.

Worst Team in the NFL:
Is it time to put the Pittsburgh Steelers in the mix here?

10 NFL Questions: Week 9

This week is all about one game: the Colts at the Patriots. Everyone is hearing about it, but everyone knows it’s worth the hype. Both teams are coming off huge road wins last week, and the Manning vs. Brady rivalry is once again in play. This game, along with the Bengals and Ravens, should have a huge impact on the AFC. Who will win the game? Will the Broncos or chargers take the AFC West? Will either of last year’s conference champions even make the playoffs? Find out in this week’s 10 questions.

Patriots to Win This Year

We all know it’s impossible to guess who will win or even make it to  the Super Bowl.  We were all witnesses last year to a Pittsburgh Steelers team that was a Wild Card and eeked out a couple games that could have gone either way against superior teams.  I’m not coming out and saying that the Patriots are a shoe in to win the Super Bowl this year.  In the NFL playoffs, anything can happen.  However, you can’t deny yesterday’s win over the previously 5-1 Minnesota Vikings makes you think a little bit.

Blogging the NFL – Week 8

Game of the WeekIndianapolis Colts at Denver Broncos – Denver is rolling on defense allowing just over a touchdown per game (7.3ppg) but will face a strong threat in Peyton Manning and the Colts. Indy has the league’s second ranked passing attack (261.8ypg) and is fourth in the league in scoring (28.5ppg).

I’ll go with the Colts in a game that should make for some great television.

Game Not Worth WatchingArizona Cardinals at Green Bay Packers – The Cards are 0-3 on the road and the Pack are 0-3 at home. Something’s got to give! Too bad that only the states of Arizona and Wisconsin will be in front of their televisions to witness it.

None the less, I’ll take Favre and the Pack to win their second in a row after beating my Dolphins last weekend.

10 NFL Questions: Week 8

Week 7 might have been this year’s craziest for the NFL. A 62 yard field goal on the final play of the game? A 31-13 home loss for a team that went 10-0 on their turf in 2005? A win for the Raiders? What’s going on with the NFL? There are some questions that can be answered though. Here they are:

10 Questions About the NFL: Week 7

It was a strange way to end a strange week. In a set of NFL games that saw three teams get their first win this season, it appeared that one of two unbeatens was about to taste defeat. But the Cardinals collapsed as they always do, and the Bears escaped Glendale at 6-0. How long will the Bears stay undefeated? What’s wrong in Kansas City? And are the Raiders the worst team of all time? Here are this week’s 10 Questions:
