Past and Present

Last night I had the pleasure of seeing the live filming of “Costas Now”. For those of you who have not seen the show it is hosted by Bob Costas and usually he has several panels on the show to discuss many different sports topics. Last nights show was all about “The State of Baseball.”

Josh Hamilton: A Human Being First- An Athlete Second

I recently read an article on ESPN written by Josh Hamilton. It was from last year when he was with the Cincinnati Reds and I suspect after last nights home run derby I won’t be the only one who read it nor will I be the only one writing something about a truly remarkable person.

I Haven’t Forgotten

I remember when the Jets drafted Chad Pennington. Really, I didn’t know much about him except that he had great numbers because he was throwing to Randy Moss…Who everyone knew. We as fans were told he was the future and in the coming years we’d see just how bright that future could be.

Following Greatness

For years my favorite player who doesn’t wear a Jets uniform has been Peyton Manning. He’s a great quarterback, says the right things, does the right things (for the most part), and he is always in a good commercial. By the way you can pretty much bet that win or lose in the Super Bowl, Mastercard is going to make a commercial about him beating the Patriots to go to the Super Bowl was “Priceless.”

Taking in a game in the lion’s den

Back in August my sister’s boyfriend, now fiancée bought me tickets for the Jets-Patriots game in Foxboro. At first I thought to myself, why would I want to drive over three hours to see the helpless Jets get shellacked by New England IN THEIR STADIUM?

USC Loses game and possible chance at the national title in Corvallis

Somebody tell me, because I am really not sure, but did USC lose this weekend? Of course I am being sarcastic. I have seen headlines such as “Leave it to Beavers” (ESPN) and other witty headlines all weekend. They lost and really did anyone not see this coming? Of course losing to Oregon State nobody could have predicted, but you knew this team was going to lose a game.

Past- Present- and Future

The New York Jets are surpassing everyone’s expectations. In many ways they are probably surpassing their own. They have had more than a forgiving schedule and at 4-3 after seven games it only gets better. Right now not only is this season looking promising but their future is as well.

After the Jets basically traded Edwards to Kansas City, Jets fans felt that they were going to be the bottom feeders in the NFL. But Eric Mangini is not willing to accept being a bottom feeder

What was on Mr. Rogers’ hand?

I don’t know what was on Kenny Roger’s hand and neither does anyone else. It’s impossible to know. Was it pine tar? Was it dirt? Is there a problem with the pigment in the skin of his left hand? Honestly, I don’t really care, to me this all ties into the dirt that is on the hands of Major League Baseball.

Walk Out Music

Two weeks ago my friend and I were at the Mets game. On the way into the stadium my friend looked at me and said, “I hope that either Julio Franco is starting or pinch hits at some point in the game.”

I looked at him with the same face Matt Leinart had when Tagliabue announced the Jets selected D’Brickashaw and said, “What?”

Omar’s Dilemma

The sports talk shows in New York have been alive with Mets fans debating whether or not the Mets should trade for Barry Zito. In my years as a New Yorker and a Mets fan, I’ve never heard so much talk about a move or not making a move that had fans so divided.
