I couldn’t help but think of the WNBA last weekend as Danica Patrick, perpetually dressed in her racing gear, became racing’s It Girl for her record-breaking performance at the Indianapolis 500.

As the ball fell over the lip and plunked against the bottom of the cup, Michael Campbell’s whole world changed. Pulling his golf cap down over his face to cover his welling tears, he clasped his hands to the back of his head, taking a few moments; scarcely believing that his dream was finally realised.
2005 Wimbledon Preview
Ah, Wimbledon. My favorite slam of the year starts Monday June 20. There’s something about Wimbledon, a certain mystique that draws people to it. It could be the grass, it could be the location, or it could be the fact that it is one of England’s most anticipated sporting events. The elegance, style, and class of Wimbledon are what keep people interested.
In Phil Jackson’s tell-all book, released less than a year ago, the former Chicago Bulls coach called Kobe Bryant “uncoachable” while he was winning three NBA Championships with the Los Angeles Lakers.
A Real Father’s Day Gift
Give your father what he really wants this Father’s Day.

Mike Tyson is a lucky man. You may not think so right away, but think about it. He’s lucky Memphis has bells. He’s lucky he drew referee Eddie Cotton three years ago when Lennox Lewis persistently pummeled him to take the throne as Heavyweight Champion. Mike Tyson is damn lucky. Because if I had been refereeing that fight, Tyson would have been buried right then and there in that ring, joining his career that had already been six-feet under since 1990.
I believe in the mercy rule, but only in coach-pitch softball. There shouldn’t be a mercy rule for Mike Tyson. Not after his sad, sorry, pathetic waste of a life. Lewis should have submerged Tyson into a place where all monsters eventually end up after their time on earth.
“Never go down looking.”
I only applied to one school, only wrote one college essay, waxed philosophical on only one “best advice I ever received” topic. I’m 24-years old, and now I look upon most baseball metaphors with a disdain usually reserved for ESPN writers. But I still hold my father’s sound wisdom, his insistence that I never let a fastball go by without swinging, as one of the finest gems of wisdom anyone has ever instilled into me.
Beware of Flying Baseballs
Every summer when the middle of June is approaching, there are many reports of large pieces of hail falling from the skies of Omaha, Nebraska. Many who report the accounts describe the pieces of hail as being the size of a baseball. This is when insurance companies are sent into overdrive. Hundreds of homes are damaged each summer, for it is the only thing that can protect them. They have become quite accustomed to this occurrence every June. They know the one warning sign to listen out for. As one person might listen for a clap of thunder in a thunderstorm, the people who are affected most by this storm listen for the fatal sound of… ping.
Here are the power rankings after the 10th week of MLB action.
Why would the rest of the world? Everyone will be watching the World Cup after all…
For many, the Olympics are nothing, the World Cup is everything. A country’s emotions all ride on the fortune of 11 players going out to do battle with the country on their chest (and thank God, without sponsorship).
