Drew Brees has a fair shot at being this year’s league MVP. How good would the Chargers be without L.T.? Pretty good. How good would the Saints be without Drew Brees? Horrible.
Wrong. Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong.
Both teams would be bad. Very bad.

With the deadline for fans to vote on Pro Bowl rosters having come and gone, here is my ballot on who has proved most deserving to represent their conference in Honolulu come February. Like any voting process, choosing the squads is an inexact science with many factors available to compare players by position. Do you vote purely on statistics? How much does the record of the player’s team mean? Does name recognition matter?

Every day in the sports world, we are presented with fascinating stories about who got traded, who called out their coach, who is in the running for an award, and why two players don’t get along. This NFL season, we have been faced with Terrell Owens sagas, Giants players ripping on each other and their coach, and the Raider and Cardinals, once again, stinking up the league.
Sure, T.O. and LaDanian Tomlinson have made the headlines, despite their seemingly less dramatic positions. But, the 2006 season has been the year of the quarterback. Most of the teams have had their quarterbacks make the headlines.
Bold is a funny word.

To my dismay, up until this point I’ve only picked 120 correctly, whilst the top fan from San Diego taunts me with his 129.
In any case, I’m about to change it all around this week, by picking upsets that only those who dare to dream dare pick. And on that note, here are my Week 14 Picks to Ponder:
It was an up and down week for the Sportscolumn crew in week 13 as Vegas Vinny and RJ Warner went 12-4 while BostonMac went 7-9 and Trevor went 6-10. Just as it looks like he was going to catch Vegas Vinny, Trevor goes and screws the pooch. But one big week can change everything. First off, I would like to give a hearty hey in my first article back here on Sportscolumn. College is crazy, and it’s a lot of fun, too bad the classes get in the way. But I am back and woe-weary of the New York Giants. My head is spinning at how fast downhill the Giants have gone. Eli’s confidence is shot, there is discord in the locker room and players are making stupid mistakes. But does this team still have a shot in the NFC?
We had a pretty good week last week here at Sportscolumn. Vegas Vinny and RJ Warner went 12-4 while Trevor and BostonMac went 10-6. The national average was 10 wins so we were above average. Again. Al from Ask the Commish has jumped out in front with 116 wins overall but Vegas Vinny is only 1 behind at 115.
