It has now been well documented throughout both the sports world and the business world, that the National Football League (NFL) has enjoyed unprecedented growth in revenue as a professional sports league, and most notably in the past decade.

And as the NFL approaches a $10 billion annual take, its largely billionaire team owners have grown quite accustomed to such returns becoming routine and continuing infinitum.

Joe Torre, former Major League Baseball (MLB) manager of no less than five MLB teams as well as a former 17-year MLB player, has been making his way through the maze of MLB executive life in 2011. Torre was appointed on February 26, 2011 by current MLB Commissioner, Bud Selig, as Executive Vice President of Baseball Operations. He also serves as the commissioner’s liaison to general managers and field managers of all 30 MLB teams.

MLB Invests in First Indian-Born Players

The Pittsburgh Pirates now have the sole distinction of signing two non-drafted free agents from India. Not only are the players the first Indian-born signed players from that country by MLB, but also for any other major league sport outside of India.
