A very popular phrase recently is that with great power comes great responsibility. No matter who accepts this statement, Georgia Tech Football Coach Chan Gailey and dozens of other coaches just like him are very glad that it has so much validity.

Going For The Win
In two consecutive weeks, fans have been able to witness the glory that is the “killer instinct” — that desire to go out for the win and not settle for tying up the game. Dick Vermeil and Jon Gruden get the thumbs up from me for their willingness to throw caution to the wind, and go for the “W”.
A Sweet Spot in Time
by Matt Waters
It’s the sweet, precious, moment in time. The natural high adrenaline can bring, the one second where it feels as if we could skate right on the Milky Way, defy gravity, the rules, the expectations, defy our common denominator of humanity.
It may happen once, twice, it may not happen at all.
A Timeout for T.O.
If you didn’t watch the theatrical event that was the Terrell Owens-Drew Rosenhaus press conference Tuesday, you missed quite the show.
You pick up the phone and call the want-a-bee’s, “Yoh! I spanked your butt three colors of red my boy. I am 10-2 and just about clinched best record overall and that first round bye. Do you want to name your first born after me as I think I am the greatest fantasy manager ever.” You are becoming more obnoxious and talking more trash then TO. Your love affair is in stage three, falling in love with your team even more than when you first drafted it. As your thinking what brilliant cheap shot about your opponents team you can make next, your buddy says. “Did you here your star LT strained a knee in practice.” The cell phone bounces off the keyboard as it starts falling to the floor in slow motion. Your beautiful wonderful explosive club is free falling and you keep grasping for air as the phone and your club hit’s the floor. NOOOO!
Vick Silences Critics
I’m not going to go out and make any wild predictions. I’m not going to stamp my foot down with certainty, or rave over possibility, or yell about opportunity. Nope. I just want to inform you to keep your eyes on the 6-2 Falcons, who seem to have all the ingredients for a Super Bowl caliber team. Including, dare I say, the best quarterback in the NFC.
Be a Fan
This is an introductory column about myself, about being a fan and about the passion of sports:
What Sports Really Mean to America
Hurricane Katrina has devastated cities, Terrorists have destroyed the biggest of buildings, and wars have separated families, but not one force will ever be able to take away sports from the people of America. Sports have always been the shoulder America leans on when we need support. From the time my Grandfather was born until now there hasn’t been a time when sports weren’t a part of everyone’s daily life.
Athletes Say the Darndest Things
Over the years there have been all sorts of quotes that have made us laugh, become angry, or become inspired. Athletes have always been some of the most controversial people in all of the media, and the media never lets a quote go unrecorded. So I have put together some of my favorite quotes from athletes from all sports, all over the world. Take a look…
Series Won by the "Right" Sox
Like the blink of an eye, the ALDS series between the two American League Sox was over. At the end of it all, it seemed like Boston did not know what hit them. They were supposed to score the runs, come from behind, and have all the fun. They were the most recent “October kids”, fresh off a historic postseason in which they broke almost all the unwritten rules. They were supposed to face the Yankees in the next round.
Except Chicago did not really agree.
