Fantasy Sports Killed the Sports Fan

I am guilty.  Like most sports fans, I play and enjoy fantasy sports. But much like music videos killed the radio star are fantasy sports killing the sports fan?

Roids- Roids- and more Roids

I know what you’re thinking, how many times can we banter back and forth about steroids before we realize it goes in continuous circles? Steroids have become an STD to the sports world, fast spreading with no solution. So far, the MLB has taken the biggest blow (Did the 500 foot homeruns or the constant record-breaking seasons tip someone off?). Canseco is writing a book while simultaneously going insane before our very eyes. Raffy P. (his rapper name derived from P Diddy of course) is wondering if he still has a shot at a full time career doing Viagra commercials. Bonds (gotta love this guy) conveniently misses the 2005 season due to a sudden physical breakdown, just as the ‘roids controversy reaches its zenith. To top it all off, every record that has been broken, or shattered, in recent years is now in question.

For Bonds (and Lance)- Credibility- not Records- is at Stake

With the return of Barry Bonds to a hopeless lineup, and the comeback of Lance Armstrong to a competition-less race, we as fans are desperate for answers. We are trained to believe that legends will ride off into the glorious sunset, and that there is no greater stage than the ones in our memory, on SportsCentury, or in the catalogues of the written recollection. But this isn’t anything like that. Bonds and Armstrong, two unrivaled dominators of their respective sports, are back in their games primarily to restore their credibility and move past an ambiguous past.

Week 2 Bets (The Rebound)

Wow!  Not quite what I had expected.  Week 1 was filled with some strange and peculiar outcomes.  Some of you (and you know who you are) are probably pretty excited about the mediocrity that I displayed, but rest assured, this is only the beginning.  Explain to me one thing, though, what happened to the Jets?  Yes the Chiefs rebuilt their defense, but come on, it’s still the Chiefs.  And for you Steelers fans – my apologies.  Big Ben clearly is not going to suffer from the “sophomore slump”.

Looking into my crystal football I see…

The sun is shining and the air is crisp.  The days are getting shorter and as summer turn to autumn my ears long for the Sweet Sounds of September.   The crunching pads, the QB’s barking out audibles, the roar of the crowd as Farve finds Walker splitting the safeties for a TD.

Every year in the NFL we are surprised and intrigued by what a new season has in store.
With the start of the new NFL season comes a shopping list of questions:  Here is this shoppers list of things we might see, or would like to see over the next 17 weeks.
