2011 NFL Divisional Playoffs Picks and Podcast

RJ brings up an interesting question this week: has a team coming off the first round bye ever been an underdog? That might be the most interesting game of the week, at least according to Vegas. Can the second best scoring defense slow down the second best scoring offense in the league? Is watching game film of the St. Louis Rams really a strategy?

We’ll also see if the Broncos and Giants are for real. In Baltimore, everyone is healthy and Joe Flacco is already playing the no respect card.

The featured games this week are… all of them.

2011 NFL Week 14 Picks and Podcast

The podcast this week is about as good as the featured games. Take that for what it’s worth. RJ is down to his last $5 and he’s trying to figure out whether he can bet it all or just hang on betting $3.30 to win $3 so he can take the bus home. Also, Jeff Garcia has a job? Most people would have to take a moment when asked Jeff Garcia: Dead, Alive, or Canadian.

The featured games this week are Texans at Bengals, Bears at Broncos, and Giants at Cowboys.

2011 NFL Week 2 Picks and Podcast

After a wild start to the NFL season, we’re back with week 2 picks. A little more information this week to base picks on but don’t get too carried away with surprise teams from last week. Good teams always bounce back and bad teams always come back down to earth. (Are we taking about the Bills or the Raiders?)

This week’s featured games are Oakland @ Buffalo, Chicago @ New Orleans, San Diego @ New England, and Philly @ Atlanta.

You can download the podcast directly (running time 90 mins) or subscribe to the feed. The weekly picks show is followed by a half hour of Poor Man’s PTI.

2011 Week 1 NFL Picks

It’s football season! Every season, I give the excuse that week 1 is the hardest week to pick. But looking at the results from last season might give us some insight into what will happen this week. In the first week of 2010, 12 home teams won as well as 10 favorites. In a straight up pick, when in doubt, go with the home favorite.

As far as against the spread goes, think about picking dogs as Vegas/bettors often rate the favorites a little too high. Last year, 8 dogs won vs only 6 favorites, with only 2 backdoor covers.

The featured games this week are Saints @ Packers, Lions @ Bucs, Steelers @ Ravens, and Cowboys @ Jets.

By the way, for those of you on the “NY teams will win because of 9/11” bandwagon, Ryan wanted to remind you that it’s 9/11 for everyone.
