The Chargers’ terrible move

By Joshua M. Boraz

As a fan, I am a band wagon jumper. I did not root for the Chicago Bears because I grew up in Chicago from 0-8. I don’t root for the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox because I lived in New Hampshire and went to UNH from 17-22. I don’t root for the Atlanta Hawks because I reside in Milledgeville, Georgia and Atlanta is the cloest city. If I root for a team, I do it because I like the moves they made in the off-season, regular season and their overall general direction that they take with their franchise.

The Cincinnati Nine

Imagine working for a company that has a little more than 500 employees with the following statistics:

    · 29 have been accused of spousal abuse
    · 7 have been arrested for fraud
    · 19 have been accused of writing bad checks
    · 117 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses
    · 3 have done time for assault
    · 71 can not get a credit card due to bad credit
    · 14 have been arrested on drug·related charges
    · 8 have been arrested for shoplifting
    · 21 are currently defendants in lawsuits
    · 84 have been arrested for drunk driving in the last year

Yeah, it makes me wonder why anyone would want to be a member of the Cincinnati Bengals’ organization too…Seriously…I swear…Okay, fine, so those statistics actually pertain to the 535 members of the United States Congress, but the Bengals aren’t that far off.

NHL Power Rankings For Feb. 20- 2007

After a week off, it looks as though a change at the top has occurred. Buffalo re-claims their number one throne, but Nashville is just right behind them. Meanwhile, the trade deadline is this weekend. With Forsberg dealt, who knows what else will happen.

Gentlemen- Start Your Blenders… er- Engines

By Ryan McGowan

On Sunday afternoon, I rediscovered my Southern roots.

OK, I lied.  I was born in Rhode Island and grew up in Massachusetts.  I fit in south of the Mason-Dixon line about as easily as Charlton Heston at a vegan convention.  But for one day, I was Southern.

Bringing Home The Big One

by Trevor Freeman

It is 10:05 P.M. and I’m drunk.  I’m real drunk.  I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t banking on grammar and spell check to step it up a notch right now.  I got home at 5:30 and all I’ve been doing is rifling Yuengling. The person who said drinking never cured your problems has never tasted the beautiful amber ale that only Pottsville, Pennsylvania can produce.

Gilbert’s Defensive Comments Get Offensive

Gilbert Arenas sounded off against Coach Eddie Jordan following Sunday’s loss to the Portland Trail Blazers.

What a year it has been for Gilbert Arenas.  Sure, prior to this season he was a well-known player, an All-Star, and a must-start for any fantasy basketball team.  This season; well, let’s just say Gilbert’s stock went up like Apple’s in the 80’s.  Arenas shot into superstardom – becoming a household name, appearing in Adidas commercials alongside KG, T-Mac, and Duncan, dropping 60 points in Kobe’s face, and scorching the Suns and Steve Nash for 54 more (ending Phoenix’s 15-game winning streak).

Second honeymoon over for Billy Donovan

Never have I seen a college basketball game in which one team thoroughly outcoached, outplayed, and outmanaged the other so totally– and lost. Never.

Despite the fact that Florida seemingly had the game locked up with 35 seconds to go, up by nine; despite the fact that Kentucky had started only 1 out of 19 from three-point range, tying the worst start to a game in school history; despite the fact that Florida led the entire way, including by as much as 16 during the first half; despite the fact that Ramel Bradley, who entered the game hitting better than 86% of his free throws, went 3-8 from the line, Kentucky had a shot at the buzzer to force overtime. And it comes down to coaching.

Since Dale Earnhardt died racing at the Daytona 500 in 2001, the pressure cooker on Dale Earnhardt Jr went up by about a million times. This is a story about truly living in your father’s shadow…

Tar Heels Have Slept Enough

Saturday was a bad day for the Tar Heels.  Every defeat stings, but the way the loss to N.C. State unfolded was especially painful. This has to be the last “wake up” game of the season for UNC.  Teams with title aspirations – and surely the Heels would be in this group – don’t go down the stretch still looking for toughness, passion, intelligence and “want-to”.  Had Saturday’s game been against a better team, the margin of defeat would have been much, much larger.
