Three Washington Redskins’ quarterbacks hold the record for the longest touchdown pass (99 yards) in National Football League history: Andy Farkas on October 15, 1939; Sonny Jurgensen on September 15, 1968; and George Izo on September 15, 1963.

NFL Week 4 Picks
In week 3, we didn’t do as well as the ESPN idio..er..experts (70% vs 66%) but we’re still beating them overall for the season. If you want to see how the “experts” all stack up against each other, you should check out Tokar’s Excel file that tracks all the major sites and their expert picks. It’s good to know that we’re beating the HBO NFL guys too. Unfortunately, we’re losing to Lil Bow Wow – go figure. Still, we persevere, so here are your Week 4 picks.
Power Rankings
Here are the week 3 Power Rankings, as decided by..well, me. Records aren’t everything so I don’t want to hear any complaints about Jacksonville being 3-0. I’d take Indy to beat them every single day of the week and twice on Sundays. Wait a minute, look what’s coming up this weekend: Jaguars vs Colts. If the Jags can beat the Colts, I’ll danced naked through the next snowstorm we get here.
What Ever Happen To…. Billy Kilmer
by
Robert Janis
(I interviewed Billy Kilmer by phone on May 6, 2004)
If it wasn’t for his mother, he may have been known today as a Major League baseball player. His toughness proved doctors wrong when they said he would never walk again. And his stubbornness was instrumental in embarrassing a Dallas Cowboys head coach when that coach questioned his athletic skills just before the 1972 NFC Championship game.

Last week the Sportscolumn staff picked 64% of the games right. Overall, our record is 62% right. That’s not setting any records but we’re still beating the “experts” at ESPN.com who are picking only 59%. I don’t know about you, but I’d rather get more right and not have to look at that that smug bastard, Merrill Hoge. In any case, here are the week 3 picks.
NFL.COM: Fraud at the Polls!
…It was midday on Thursday afternoon September 23rd, 2004. My day was rather common: work, lunch, time spent on NFL web sites between projects. I had been intrigued all week by the NFL.COM’s Rookie of the week voting. Until I realized that it means absolutely nothing and the NFL just tells us who we voted for…
What Ever Happen To…. Larry Brown
by
Robert Janis
The Washington Redskins have built a legacy of good running backs. That legacy begins with Larry Brown. Brown was the first Redskins running back to gain more than 1,000 yards in a single season. He achieved that feat twice in a career that ran from 1969 to 1976.
Remember last week how I compared beating the Giants to beating a retard at checkers? Well, this week, Mike Tice and his short bus came to town. Don’t get me wrong, the Vikings are a very very talented team, especially on offense. But Tice and his coaching staff (with some help from a flustered Culpepper and The Phreak) managed to drive that bus right off a cliff.

What a difference a week makes! Last week, no one gave the Packers a chance to win their Monday night matchup against Carolina and this week, no one is willing to touch the Panthers with a ten foot pole. Meanwhile all of us are picking Green Bay to beat the Bears. But don’t worry, there’s plenty of games we still disagree on. Here are your Week 2 picks, served piping hot.
When week 1 begins, all teams are optimistic. There is just that one chance the season could be a success. But what happens when this turnaround goes sour.
