In A New York Minute

By Billy Fellin

First off, I would like to give a hearty hey in my first article back here on Sportscolumn. College is crazy, and it’s a lot of fun, too bad the classes get in the way. But I am back and woe-weary of the New York Giants. My head is spinning at how fast downhill the Giants have gone. Eli’s confidence is shot, there is discord in the locker room and players are making stupid mistakes. But does this team still have a shot in the NFC?

Giant Devastation

Are the Giants for real?  Are they capable of going “all the way”?  Do they possess enough weapons to represent the NFC East in the playoffs?  Well…do they?

Not exactly.  It could be the fact that they were thrown under the bus before the 06′ campaign, when they realized they would have one of the hardest schedules in the league, besides the Bengals.  A shock? Ahhhh, maybe not.  The Giants are highly capable of beating any team in the league, but it just won’t happen.  Considering the Giants D is simply an obliteration, with a non-existent LaVar Arrington, and for that fact, a non-existent linebacker core, the schedule is even more an enemy than ever.

G-I-A-N-T-S

By Billy Fellin

As another season is on the horizon over the swamps of Jersey, the Giants are poised to make a run into the playoffs in arguably the toughest division in all of football.

Giants Get Defensive

The New York Giants look to fix up their vulnerable, patchwork defense that they put on the field in 2005. Gaping holes were exposed at linebacker, defensive tackle, cornerback, and safety. In short, it is safe to say that 70-80% of their defense is patchy. Look at the way Santana Moss lit them up on Christmas Eve 2005 in an ugly 35-20 loss. How do the Giants allow the Chargers to beat them 45-23? The answer is simple: Too much patchwork and not enough guys that are locks.

Not So Fast

Yes Eli Manning had a bad game against the Panthers. Actually, he had a really bad game, throwing three interceptions and loosing a fumble in the Panther’s domination of the Big Blue. But don’t jump on Eli’s back just yet.

Darkness on the Edge of Town

True Blue fans suffered a crushing shutout loss to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. As bad as the loss was, the first thing that needs to happen is for the Giants to totally forget about everything that just unfolded and start preparing for the off-season. There is a bright future for these Football Giants but one loss such as the one suffered today can trigger a series of bad events and destroy a team’s chemistry and faith in each other.

Those Pesky Giants

Like it or not, the New York Giants have come to play.  This team has seen its fair share of hardship, but in a season that was supposed to be about building a young team, they may find themselves playing deep into the month of January.  Who knows, the big game may fall into their lap, but success has not come without a price for the boys in blue.

"Tiki Torch"

By Billy Fellin

Does anyone remember the old Wiley Coyote versus the Road Runner Looney Toons cartoon? How Wiley always had this ingenious plan to stop the Road Runner and 100% of the time, it backfired. Well, Saturday night the Road Runner was Tiki Barber and the Coyote was the Chiefs defense.

Down- but not out

By Billy Fellin

I feel sorry for my family. I really do. They have to put up with not one, but two screaming Giants fans every week. Part of that is because the Giants have had heart wrenching games the past few weeks, either going into overtime, or a late game drive by Eli. However, this game against the Seahawks was crucial, and even though we lost, don’t count this team out just yet.

Roller Coaster

By Billy Fellin

This whole season has been one camel hump in a roller coaster after another. The Giants are no exception to this, as they have been up for most of the time, but have been down as well. But they are still very much in contention
