Friday Free For All: "Invincible" movie review

As a service for the Sportscolumn community, I went to the 11:30 AM showing of Invincible today. Who am I kidding, if I wasn’t going to write a review for SC, I’d have seen the 2:30 showing anyway. As an Eagles fan, I am obligated to see the movie. What’s the population of the Delaware Valley? 6 million people? Multiply by $9… Invincible is guaranteed to bring in at least $50M just from the Philly area alone.

Philadelphia Phillies: Worst Franchise in Sports

*    Brett Myers beating his wife
*    Good ‘ole Cholly Manuel managing like he had a frontal lobotomy prior to the season
*    Leadoff extraordinaire, self proclaimed “J-Roll”, and his .300 on base percentage
*    Untouchable “Super Phenoms”, Gavin Floyd and Cole Hamels, and their 5.00+ MLB ERA’s
*    Pat Burrell and his 12 pack of Sam Adams that is super glued to his hip
*    Bobby Abreu’s defense
*    Waiver wire dynamo Rick White
*    Losing Streaks by the half dozens

  Folks – this is just the past two weeks in the life of the “Worst Franchise” in all of professional sports. Period. This is actually an improvement from the last decade or so when Ed Wade would be looking to move Bobby Abreu for some middle relief help by this point.

Thank you- Philadelphia

Just when I think my world as a Philadelphia fan can’t get any more dismal, some Philadelphia team shakes things up by placing themselves eleven games out of the division lead, blowing it in the playoffs, not making the playoffs, or spending more time arguing with a crazy wide receiver, than playing the actual game. Over the past couple of days, I’ve started making a list of the things that make me crazy as a Philadelphia fan. Here’s a sampling:
