As the trade deadline approaches, the Preds, Wings, and Sabres seem to be comfortably on top of the NHL world. Meanwhile, the teams that are in the middle of the pack just happen to be the same ones that all the rumors are flying. Teams like Colorado, Vancouver, Carolina and Toronto have been in the mill every day for the past two weeks, along with the Flyers. Where did your team finish this week?

NHL Power Rankings for Jan 8 2007

The top of the power rankings has seen the same four teams almost every week this season. Meanwhile, Martin Broudeur has become a one-man team in New Jersey willing the Devils near the top five for the first time this season. The Canucks find themselves in the top ten for the first time all season, while the Hurricanes have slipped a little, sending them down to thirteen this week.

Meanwhile, the middle of the pack sees all but the aforementioned Canucks in the northwest division. The Islanders had a tough week, as they proved their quick start is just a fluke. Phoenix has found their highest point of the season, just as “The Great One’s” fire sale begins. Where did your team end up?

NHL Power Rankings for Dec 26 2006

In the middle of the holiday festivities, and the hockey couldn’t be hotter. The Northwest division boasts a three-way tie, while other divisional races are heating up. The Christmas break is over, and now it’s a fight to the next break, during All-Star weekend. There was no change at the top, with the top eight staying right where they are. Meanwhile, Tim Thomas helps Boston jump an amazing nine spots this week. On the other side of the spectrum, the Orcas out of Vancouver drop three important games, and nine spots this week. Where did your team end up?

NHL Power Rankings for Nov 28 2006

Two major coaching moves in the central division highlight the week. Ken Hitchock has gone from the disaster known as the Flyers to the disaster known as the Blue Jackets. Meanwhile, in the east, the aforementioned Flyers are threatening to climb out of the cellar, but for right now, it’s going to be a long winter in Philly. Oh, and that smell, it’s coming from Sunrise, Florida. The Bertuzzi-less Panthers look horrible. Where did your team end up?

Anahiem has been a busy team, making three trades this week. Stanislav Chistov went to Boston, Todd Fedoruk is back with the Flyers, and Colorado got a second round pick from the Ducks. The moves were done after they vaulted to number one in this weeks rankings, while the Sabres stand pat at number two. At the bottom, the Coyotes and Flyers still bring up the rear. NHL Power Rankings for November 6 2006

It’s that time of the week again, no, not the beer pong league night. It’s time for the NHL power rankings. The Avalanche, Red Wings and Maple Leafs all made some major noise this week, while the Devils are dropping faster then Clemson out of the AP poll.

Note to Clemson, you guys might want to think about changing your play calling. On that note, where does your favorate team rank?

NHL Power Rankings for Oct 30 2006

We’re about a dozen games in the NHL season and it’s time for the first Power Rankings. The team with the ugliest uniforms in the east is getting the most attention, but out west, Anaheim, Dallas and Minnesota have something to say about who is the best team in the NHL.
