Just when I thought it was going to be a slow week, (Sportscolumn.com is not officially recognizing this year’s Super Bowl as an actual game. This is similar to last year when the football season, for all intents and purposes, ended with the Conference championships.) Page Six is reporting that it has a copy of a sex tape starring Dr. J.

Two years ago, the Eagles almost pulled off a stunning upset at St. Louis. But they weren’t supposed to win that game so, while the fans were disappointed, we knew that this was an improving team. Last year, we were supposed to beat the Bucs at home but got outcoached. It was like a gut shot followed by a kick to the groin. This year, we were believers but last year’s pain numbed us so much that losing to Carolina wasn’t really that painful.

After the Packers beat Seattle last Sunday, Cris Collingsworth noted that there were angels floating above Lambeau Field. I love how the media will latch on to a story and beat it into the ground. As if sports announcers weren’t in love with Brett Favre already, this “charmed team” bit has them so far up his ass, he’s gonna have to use Colon Blow to get them out.

This title could be about so many things. The first thing that comes to mind is the bait and switch that some Philly teams seem to do around championship time… BUT… this is the holidays so I’ll refrain from any negative comments about my beloved Philly teams. Next week is fair game though.

I’m not some crazy conspiracy theorist but after watching the Lakers – Timberwolves game, you have to wonder how much interest the league has in LA moving on to the second round. Let’s see, LA is one of the biggest markets out there with two superstars while Minnesota is in a small market has one superstar. Smells fishy, doesn’t it? The WWE has better disguised fixes.

This is the easiest playoff series to predict. Boston will run their offense like a well oiled machine, which basically involves getting the rebound or inbound and running down the court at full speed. Then either Pierce, Walker, or Williams will jack it up from the three point line. Unfortunately, they will shoot about 11% from there. Other statistics to watch for: Average Number of Passes per Possesion: 0.30.

We’ve seen Jordan retire a couple of times before, but we know this is indeed the final time. And while Madison Square Garden would have been the perfect place for his last game (for where else did he make more of an impact?), I’m glad and proud that his send off party was at the First Union Center in Philly.
Can we officially designate Chicago fans as the worst in the country? Last night, this mensa member on your right ran onto the field and attacked an umpire. This is on the heels of an incident at the same ballpark last year where a father and son duo attacked the Royals first base coach. Look, we all want to yell and kick dirt on umpires from time to time but we don’t attack them!
