Can anyone tell me what is going on with the Detroit Lions? Three 1st round wide recievers, a 1st round quarterback, and an aging skills declining tight end. We’ll just grab up this bunch, because aside from these highly touted yet underachieving youngsters, the rest of the Lions look not half bad. Let’s start with Charles Rogers, the famous eggshell collarbone who continues to frustrate fantasy football players season after season with injuries, and now inconsistent play. The guy has tremendous potential. The year he came out of college he was touted as evenly skilled as the great Randy Moss. The only thing similar I’ve seen between the All Pro great and the collarbone is their ability to frustrate people. What was that? Oh, Roy Williams. I have enormous respect for this guy. A tremendous rookie season in which he blew out of the gates fast and in my eyes did take the league by storm, he kinda faded down the stretch and for some reason that has carried into this season. Oh, and Mike Williams. This guy can flat out play. Trust me. Everyone knows this, teams and GM’s know this, and any defensive back he ever faced in College knows this. I’m not concerned with his production just yet, as I do have faith that his time will come. 3 first round receivers, yet a combined measely 445 yards and 2 td’s. And let’s not forget Marcus Pollard, a great Tight End 3 or four years ago, a serviceable one now. He gives them a new dimension, yet doesn’t have that game changing ability of a Tony Gonzalez or Jeremy Shockey. What about Kevin Jones? No I didn’t forget him, but this kid can run with the best of them and I don’t care if you have Walter Payton or Eric Dickerson on your squad, you can’t run effective if your team can’t pass the ball. Plain and simple.
