Mazzilli’s firing not good for the team

It was announced today two hours before the Baltimore Orioles’ game against Anaheim that manager Lee Mazzilli had been fired for the huge slump the team is in. Bench coach Sam Perlozzo has been promoted to interim manager for the remainder of the season.

It’s BS, that’s what it is. I don’t blame him for the team’s demise — you win together as a team, you lose together as a team.

Please say it ain’t so

Rafael Palmeiro, the Baltimore Orioles’ first baseman and occasional designated hitter, has been suspended 10 days for his first offense of the league’s substance abuse policy.

Everyone has probably heard about this already and every sports writer in America has voiced their opinion whether it’s been in their newspaper, on the radio, or on some sports show. Well, I’m going to add my two cents in there since the Orioles are my favorite MLB team.

Hockey season has been cancelled. A good thing or a bad thing?

By Chris Mackey

The NHL has cancelled the remainder of the season. Is it a good thing or bad thing? Right now, it’s bad. But in the end it’s good. A second prominent sport in America will have a salary cap, more than likely, and maybe that will cause the other two, baseball and basketball, to follow suit.

Hockey season to be officially cancelled. Does anyone care?

By Chris Mackey

So, the National Hockey League is going to declare in a press conference on Wednesday that this season is going to be officially cancelled. In other news… blah, blah, blah.
My question is this: Does anyone really care now that this enevitable action is finally coming to pass after it had been on the minds of hockey fans everywhere all season? I at least know this: I sure don’t.

Sosa an Oriole?

ESPN has been reporting for the past couple days that Sammy Sosa, the Chicago Cubs slugger, is on the verge of being traded to the Baltimore Orioles, pending Bud Selig’s approval and Sosa passing a physical. There was also mention that Sosa has a no-trade clause in his contract, but he was expected to waive that. One other condition was that the Cubs would have to pay $10 million of Sosa’s contract this season. A big reason why the O’s jumped on this trade.
