Locks of the Week

[Editor’s Note: This year, we’re making the Locks of the Week a little more interesting as we have a side bet amongst the four experts. The person with the most money at the end of the year in Locks betting takes home all the money. Disclaimer: The amounts discussed are for illustrative and entertainment purposes only. Vegas Vinny: You could make a very strong and smart argument that the Colts lost to the Patriots simply because of Tom Brady. Philip Rivers’ 49.4 passer rating last week had nobody comparing him to Tom Brady. Marvin Harrison is still iffy and Anthony Gonzalez is out this week but Peyton Manning will have enough weaponds in Dallas Clark, Reggie Wayne, and Joseph Addai to beat the Chargers in San Diego. The Bolts lost Luis Castillo last week and Quentin Jammer is gimpy in his return so expect the Colts to take advantage with their passing game. I’m falling a little behind here but I’ll only put $110 to win $100 on the Colts (-3.5). (Balance = $910)

BostonMac: It’s pretty obvious to anyone who watched the epic Indy-New England game last week that these two teams are head and shoulders above the rest of the league. They are just on another planet when compared to the rest of the NFL, even a team as unnecessarily arrogantly smug as the Chargers. The Colts lost to the Patriots because Tom Brady willed the Pats to victory in the 4th Quarter. There is no way Philip Rivers can do the same, even in San Diego. If the Patriots were 27 points better than the Chargers back in Week 2, then the Colts should be at least 3 touchdowns better this week. I think the Colts bounce back from last week’s tough loss and annihilate the Chargers. I’m so sure of it, I’ll put $110 to win $100 on INDIANAPOLIS (-3.5). (Balance = $1185)

Trevor F: You know why I won my Lock of the Week last week. It is because the Big
Cheese upstairs rewarded me for having the testicles to put my bet down on
the biggest game of the week. I’m going to do it again. I’m taking the
New York Football Giants getting 1 point at home. They will beat Dallas. $55 to win $50. (Balance = $1190)

Billy Fellin: My lock this week is the Lions over the Cardinals. The Lions have a very impressive attack, with Jon Kitna throwing the ball well, Kevin Jones running it very effectively and rookie Calvin Johnson catching the ball nicely, which have the Lions at an impressive 6-2. I think Kitna will look to take advantage of Arizona’s weak secondary and look for Johnson and Roy Williams to both have big days. The Cardinals are in disarray and the Lions should take this game. I’ll put $55 on the Lions (+1) to win $50. (Balance = $1000)
