Tough week 10 for us here at Sportscolumn. Trevor went 9-7 but everyone else went 7-9. For the first time in a long time, we lost to the ESPN experts who had 59% correct. Somehow, despite a 7-9 week, Vegas Vinny still maintains the overall lead amongst all experts posting their picks on the web. If you want to see how we stack up against all the experts, check out a very nifty expert picks compilation spreadsheet by our buddy Tokar.
The featured games this week are Seattle @ San Francisco, Indianapolis @ Dallas, San Diego @ Denver, and NY Giants @ Jacksonville. You can download the podcast directly (running time 32 mins) or subscribe to the feed.

Locks of the Week |
[Editor’s Note: This year, we’re making the Locks of the Week a little more interesting as we have a side bet amongst the four experts. The person with the most money at the end of the year in Locks betting takes home all the money. Disclaimer: The amounts discussed are for illustrative and entertainment purposes only. Gambling may be illegal in your locale.]
Vegas Vinny: That’s a couple of weeks of Locks correct in a row for me and I’m feeling pretty confident. I’ve been going on teams’ mental state/emotion in making the last two picks but I’m going back to the trends well for this week. First off, the Raiders are 0-10 in their last ten games in the division. Second, they’re a team that’s a complete mess on offense. If you look at the past few weeks, they only can score a TD on defense or when they get a very short field on a turnover. (Roethlisberger throws 2 picks for TDs and Jake Plummer gave them the ball on the 15 yd line.) If the Chiefs can only muster up 20 pts, they’ll cover those 10 points they’re giving. If that doesn’t sway you, the Chiefs are 9-1 against the spread in their last 10 home games. I’m putting $110 to win $100 on the Chiefs (-10) because I need to catch up to Ryan. (Balance = $865)
BostonMac: BROWNS (+3.5) over the Steelers. Every year there emerges a sleeper team who has a rough first half and then inexplicably turns the tide in the second half and starts covering spreads against big favorites and then pulls off some upsets. I think the Cleveland Browns are this year’s team. Never mind the fact that the Steelers are terrible, but they have to go to play an improving Cleveland team (led by my boy Romeo Crennel, of course, and winners of two out of the last three) and knock off the Browns for the sixth straight time. After the Browns beat the Falcons last week, however, look for them to keep improving by ending their losing streak against Pittsburgh. I’ll bet that Cleveland holds down the home field and the Steelers’ cursed season continues. I hit my big $110 bet last week on the Chargers, so I’ll scale it back a bit this week and go $55 to win $50 on Cleveland getting 3 and a half. (Balance = $1125)
Trevor F: In a move that only an experienced gambler would make……I’m going to take the 49ers regardless of the spread and make them my Lock of the Week. I actually think it would be better for the 49ers if
Hasselbeck came back and played this week as Seneca Wallace is in a nice groove. I think there’s a good chance that Hasselbeck would be rusty in a return game. The 49ers are playing great football and winning on the road last weekend was a real shot in the arm. The streak continues at home. I’m stepping it up for the first time this year and putting $110 on the 49ers (NL) to win $100. Prediction: Niners 24-21.
(Balance = $980)
RJ Warner: Am I back on the bandwagon? Well yes, at least for this week. The Steelers love to go to Cleveland and slap the Browns around. Pittsburgh hasn’t won a road game this year, but they’re due. All they have to do is avoid turnovers and they should win and win easily. With Pig Pen at the helm, they have outscored the Browns a combined 65-3 in the Mistake by the Lake. Plus, over the last 3 seasons, the Browns are 4-12-1 ATS after a win, and they beat the Falcons last week. I’ve had horrible luck on my Locks the last few weeks, but I’m going to turn it around here by taking Pittsburgh (-3.5) and putting $110 on it. I know I’m struggling, but Pittsburgh at Cleveland is Old Reliable for the Steelers. (Balance = $425)

WELL F-U-C-K This shit. Thats all I have to say about week 10. I lost 7 fucking games. And i thought the Jags were going to destroy Houston. I used to say Houdton should not even be a team, and you know what? Fuck the Jags too. They should’nt even have a football team. There are too many I mean TOO MANY FUCKING shitty teams in Florida.
you think you had a rough week? I think I might go 7-9.
I faired alright I stuck to my guns…
Took Dallas…stupid really as it’s sort of a heart bet
Took Pitt simply because they’re a different team at home
Took Chi just for the simple fact I feel NYG is overrated and injury plagued.
I lost on the KC game.
New Rule… I will NOT pick Atlanta for the rest of the season. That’s two weeks in a row, so…NO MORE…
Btw, hey Billicheck, you still don’t know the name of the Jets head coach? It’s okay, daddy will do just fine.
You know what? I agree with you on that, i will not pick the Falcons for the rest of the season as well. I cannot believe how they are playing. Well we will have to see how week 11 works out.
Straight up picks Week 11 Philadelphia 16
Kansas City 15
Carolina 14
Chicago 13
Seattle 12
New England 11
Baltimore 10
New Orleans 9
Miami 8
Jacksonville 7
Tampa Bay 6
Pittsburgh 5
Houston 4
Denver 3
Arizona 2
Dallas 1
Seattle You gotta move that down to about 1 or 2 because there’s a 97.8% chance that they lose in San Francisco this weekend.
YES!! I’m just glad to see I’m not the only person in America who thinks Dallas will be Indy this week!!
So what if I’m a homer…everybody will see..INDY GOES DOWN THIS WEEK!
Thanks For the advice I will probably move them down, however i want to stick with Dallas at the 1 point spot due to the fact every damn week is an upset week.
You know what? I agree with you man. I like Dallas, and I hate Peyton Manning. I know, I know, I know, everybody will jump down my shit now, but I have personal reasons why I dont like him. (Like im GATOR ALUM.) So I still have it in my head that he was a Vol, and fuck the Vols. However he is just an amazing Q.B. and nobody will ever take that away from him.
It’s impossible to tell anymore I think the Colts win that game. People pick against them EVERY week and they find a way to win.
Trevor is a shameless 49er homer so take his advice with a grain of salt.
I’d also drop Carolina down a couple of confidence points. They SHOULD beat the Rams but they have been inconsistent all year.
hmmmmm I don’t think Dallas can beat Indy.
I DO think the Niners will upset Seattle at home. Good pick Trevor.
Damn those Falcons! They are frustrating, but are you REALLY not going to pick a playoff-bound team for the rest of the year?
You are absoultly right it is impossible to tell anymore, but it is a gamble. Thank you on the advice though I might do that as well.
I mean I think Indy will beat Dallas, but the way everything has been these last few weeks, it’s impossible to tell anymore (Like Vin Said). But however Damn those Falcons you are correct. But to tell you the truth i truly dont want to pick them anymore this season until they show me what they are about.
Alexander will play From Seattle PI: “It appears Alexander will start and Hasselbeck could be relegated to No. 2 status behind Seneca Wallace, but the next update from coach Mike Holmgren won’t come until after practice today.”
Hell YES NICE SEHAWKS WILL DEFINATLY WIN (NO OFFENCE TREVOR) but that my lock.
HOLY SHIT THAY FUCKING DID IT. INDY WENT DOWN. CONGRATS.
HOILY SHIT THE FUCKING NINERS DID IT. YOU WERE RIGHT . CONGRATS.
Huge That was a huge win for the 49ers yesterday (and for me as I regained first in the money standings). The 49ers showed me something in the Detroit win that had me confident for this week’s contest. While they are 5-5 and a game behind Dallas and New Orleans for the wild card and Seattle for the division. The 49ers have a much easier slate with home games still against Arizona and Green Bay. This week is crucial because we have to steal two road games. The game in St. Louis has to be the #1 target. We gotta get this week’s game against St. Louis or else last week meant nothing.
It must be nice to have a team to root for. One with a future.
I’m looking for a new team. I guess I could try out the Niners.
yay Go Niners!!!
Hope will spring eternal……. …….if the 49ers beat St. Louis. That game is huge. It is an extremely winnable game on the road. I’m scared here, because I could easily see this young team taking their foot off the gas pedal and losing a game they should win. I’m hoping the fact that the 49ers are getting 5 1/2 points will be enough of a slap in the face that they come out fired up and win.
