Reggie may be the Consensus number one, but that doesn’t mean that he should be drafted first-at least not by the Texans.Draft day can be as chaotic as a serial killer’s mind for NFL GM’s and coaches, especially for those who are un-fortunate enough to have the number one pick because of the dilemma of what they should do with the selection, trade it or use it. This year the decision falls on the shoulders of Texans GM Charley Casserly and new head coach Gary Kubiak and with two almost sure fire players to choose from, Bush or home-grown quarterback Vince Young, the Texans can’t go wrong right?
On the contrary to what everyone across the globe believe, the Houston Texans has more needs than what Bush can give them, unless of course he knows how to block. In case people have forgotten, quarterback David Carr has been hit by opposing defenses more times than Rocky Balboa. That is the need to be addressed, offensive line.
To draft an offensive lineman over the likes of Bush, [Mario] Williams, Leinart is a stretch. But however, if the Texans trade down, they would be able to select the #1 lineman in the draft, Virginia’s D’Brickashaw Ferguson. Remember, in the expansion draft the Texans drafted what they thought would a franchise tackle in Tony Boseli? He never played a down in a Texans uniform and Carr has been hurting every since. And after signing Carr to an extension, I would believe that the Texans would want to make sure that he will be able to play through his extension.
So Ferguson is the answer because no matter how great Reggie may become, he too, will need someone to block for him.
Where then would Bush go?
There are two teams that would need Reggie’s services.
-The ideal team is the Indianapolis Colts. With no Edgerrin James the Colts are in need of playmaker at running back with the abilities that Bush has and with the offense that the Colts run, they would be able to use Bush like the Rams did with Faulk during his MVP seasons. How many touchdowns would Peyton be able to throw then? 50? 55? 60? But with the 30th pick, it will be difficult to move up that many spots to get him.
-The team with the best chance is the Oakland Raiders which has the seventh pick. Although they have troubles everywhere, quarterback and secondary in particular, Reggie, along with Moss and that receiving corp would make that one of the deadliest in the league. Plus, with Bush coming from Southern Cal, what he can do for tickets sells for the Raiders and Al Davis?
Reggie Bush in the Silver and black…imagine that?

what about the jets? i think they have the best shot at him as that’s probably the last place where d’brickshaw would be avaiable. curtis martin is also getting old and they need a rb
sorry I cannot vote for an article that spells the name of my favorite NFL player in history wrong.
