I’ve revisited the power rankings that I posted back in July and have made quite a few changes to them. Here is my revised edition of power rankings:By Adam Nelson
NFL Power Rankings (Revised Edition)
1) New England: Three titles in four years. Only four losses in the past 38 games, counting playoffs. They have to be considered the favorites to win it all again.
2) Indianapolis: Out to prove that their 0-5 preseason record is completely meaningless. Truly loaded on offense, but can they finally get past the Patriots? On November 7th, we’ll find out.
3) Carolina: Many are overlooking this team, and they shouldn’t be. If they can avoid injuries, they will contend for an NFC title and possible Super Bowl title.
4) Baltimore: If Kyle Boller plays to his potential, they may contend for a first-round bye.
5) Minnesota: Unlike Philadelphia, they don’t have injuries (or T.O.) to hold them back this season. Daunte Culpepper will have a huge year- even without Randy Moss.
6) Philadelphia: You might as well call him "T.N.T" Owens instead of T.O., because it’s only a matter of time before he explodes. The loss of Todd Pinkston and Correll Buckhalter for the season, and the outright release of sack specialist Hugh Douglas, will hurt this team. The loss of them, plus the unpredictable antics of the volatile T.O, drop this team from the top of the NFC.
7) San Diego: LaDanian Tomlinson will rush for nearly 2000 yards, but road games against Denver, New England, Philadelphia, Kansas City, Indianapolis and the New York Jets will hold them back.
8) Atlanta: The schedule makers must really love these Falcons. Three Monday Night Football games….all at HOME? Just doesn’t seem fair.
9) Kansas City: Capable of scoring 30 every game, but have they fixed their defense?
10) Pittsburgh: Injuries have been brutal already (lost Jerome Bettis and Duce Staley); Fred Gibson was a waste of a fourth-round pick; Ben Roethlisberger has had a horrid preseason (16 for 36, 145 yards, no touchdowns, two interceptions); Plaxico Burress is in a New York state of mind…..is this really the same team that went 15-1 last year?
11) Buffalo: Willis McGahee runs wild….but J.P. Losman could struggle in his first season as the starter. Defense is one of the NFL’s best.
12) Seattle: This season, Seattle will get its first playoff win since 1984.
13) Arizona: Kurt Warner will party like it’s 1999. Arizona threatens for the NFC West title.
14) Houston: Yea, I know, doesn’t make sense to put them this high, right? Houston will have a very good year. Domanick Davis is one of the most underrated backs in the league. Nine or ten wins and a playoff berth isn’t out of the question.
15) New York Jets: Ten games against teams 8-8 or better spells doom for the New York "football" Jets.
16) Jacksonville: Just missed the playoff last year- can then contend in the power-laden AFC?
17) Tennessee: Travis Henry will be one of the best free-agent signings of the off season. Steve McNair is finally healthy again.
18) St. Louis: "The Greatest Show on Turf" is long gone, but they can still capable of dazzling their fans every once in a while.
19) Green Bay: This may be Brett Favre’s last year, and that will be a huge loss for NFL fans everywhere.
20) Denver: Can Jake Plummer unclog the Broncos’ problem of trying to get past the first round of the playoffs? In the talented AFC, a playoff berth may be hard to come by.
21) Cinci: Cinci may very well get its first playoff appearance since 1990. They’re doing it from a division with Baltimore and Pittsburgh, so it won’t be easy.
22) New Orleans: The last thing on the minds of the Saints’ players is playing football. Our hearts go out to them and the entire city.
23) Dallas: Drew Bledsoe and Bill Parcells are reunited…but it won’t be good.
24) Detroit: A bunch of young talent that will only get better. This team could surprise.
25) Oakland: Good news- they added speedster Randy Moss to upgrade their receiving corps. Bad news- Moss doesn’t play defense.
26) Tampa Bay: Boy, they’ve really fallen a long way since winning it all three years ago.
27) Washington: Struggles at quarterback, and a very young team. Not a whole lot of talent on this Redskin squad. Opponents will likely stack the box to keep Clinton Portis in check.
28) New York Giants: Eli Manning is no Peyton, but they still have Tiki Barber to make cuts at running back.
29) Chicago: Losing Rex Grossman for the year was cruel; he deserved better. Cedric Benson has finally ended his holdout, but how good will he be? Will Kyle Orton, a rookie, burst onto the scene as the new starter at quarterback? Lots of unanswered questions.
30) Cleveland: Wherefore art thou talent, Romeo?
31) San Francisco: How long before #1 pick Alex Smith gets thrown to the wolves?
32) Miami: The old statement rings true…if you have two quarterbacks, you really don’t have one.

To the Editor I tried my best to add in the team logos to my rankings, but it was too tricky for me to figure you out. If you can add them in to this for me, I’d really appreciate it.
Needs some work You have a bit of editing to do, mostly grammatical stuff. Other than that, this article is fine. I’m not one of those people who votes against because I disagree with the content. I wouldn’t put the Panthers so high, but they are only two years removed from a superbowl, and have plenty of potential…
I disagree… …with your top 10, but since it is opinions I will still vote for it.
