Gig Alert: Courside Magazine needs NBA Writers

[Editor’s Note: Occasionally we are alerted to writing gigs that our members might be interested in pursuing.  This one seems really cool so we thought we’d pass it along.]

ATTENTION: ASPIRING SPORTSWRITERS

A new publication devoted solely to covering the NBA, Courtside Magazine, is preparing to enter the basketball world this summer with a monthly magazine and fully complimentary web site. Not only will both the online and print version of Courtside Magazine have a significant amount of exclusive content from around the entire NBA, but it will also provide some of the most complete NBA fantasy content anywhere. As we prepare for a mid-to-late-August launch, the staffing of Courtside Magazine is not yet complete — that is where you come in. We are looking for staff writers in a number of NBA cities, specifically including, though not limited to: Atlanta, Golden State, Los Angeles, Memphis, Miami, Milwaukee, Portland, San Antonio, Seattle, and Washington.

Duties to those assigned in each city will potentially include any or all of the following: covering games in person and submitting recaps online, reporting team-specific news and rumors, and contributing exclusive content such as player interviews.

While the aforementioned cities are those in which we have the most prominent need, inquires regarding all other NBA teams are certainly welcome as well. Additionally, those who may be interested in contributing solely to the fantasy content on Courtside Magazine are also encouraged to contact us.

Currently, staff writers will not be compensated. However, joining the Courtside Magazine team will, at the very least, provide writers with national exposure and serve as an outstanding opportunity to gain experience and build contacts. As the site grows over the course of the next year, however, it remains entirely possible that these will become paid positions.

Since the launch of Courtside Magazine and completion of staffing are expected to occur by the end of August, we encourage all inquiries to be made as soon as possible. All correspondence can be directed to Jonathan Ragus/Zach Chalifour at [email protected]

I will be getting my 41st once my next one passes the queue. I was in the lead for a while, but 3 articles in 2 1/2 months will help to surrender that lead.

But I’m back and I’m ready!
