If Your Athletic Director Only Knew…

A 2-year old rap called “If that Ho only knew” created by some Miami
football players recently surfaced on the internet, much to the
chagrin of the Univesity of Miami Athletic Director.  The group
called themselves the 7th Floor Crew and recorded a rap that degraded
women and minorities. This rap isn’t your average explicit rap song,
this is an expletive-filled rap that lasts for 9 minutes. (See the
end of this article for the download) One of the biggest problems of
this ordeal is the fact that it has come from Miami, a school
struggling to recover from their image of out of control “student”-
athletes.  The release of this rap song certainly is another black
mark on their athletic program.

Death of a Priest and a Salesman

Rarely do four tenured coaches leave their schools in the same year.

First it was Barry Alvarez, who announced in July that this, his 16th season, would be his final at Wisconsin. Then it was Bill Snyder, who retired after 17 years from Kansas State just this past week. But there is no word yet on Fisher DeBerry of Air Force and Ken Hatfield of Rice. The previous infringed on the rights of his players and should be fired, while the latter made derogatory comments three years ago without paying the price.

The Coach of the Century

Before Bill Snyder graced Manhattan with his presence in 1989, Kansas State was an insult to abysmal.

The Wildcats had not won a game since October 18, 1986. They had not won a road game since October 26, 1985. They had not won consecutive games since September 24, 1983 and three consecutive games since the beginning of 1982. They had not played in a bowl since losing to Wisconsin on December 11, 1982 in the Independence Bowl, then the weakest of all the bowls. They had not won consecutive road games since October 27, 1979. They had not been ranked since November 14, 1970. They had not beaten a ranked team other than by forfeit since October 31, 1970. And they had not beaten a top ten team since October 3, 1970.

Game To Be: USC Trojans vs. Texas Longhorns

The Rose Bowl which is also known as the National Championship site for this year in college football.  And even if you don’t want to face it, you know that you will be seeing the USC Trojans playing the Texas Longhorns in the Rose Bowl this year.  Whether you like the way the BCS works, agree with the weakness of schedule these teams have, or just can’t stand either team, there is nothing that you or I can do about it.  Just face it, the Trojans and Longhorns will be playing for the national title.  Now we just have to decide who we think will win it all.

USC should not get top spot

The USC Trojans should not hold the top spot in the nation.  With teams like Texas and VA Tech out there its hard to see how anyone can honestly say they deserve to be there.  Both Texas and VA Tech have had better wins against better competition than the men of Troy.
