Shortly after 5:00 PM on the Friday prior to Super Bowl XLVI, U.S. Attorney, Andre Brigotte, Jr., of the United States District Court for the Central District of California, quietly issued a three sentence press release.
And the federal investigation against Lance Armstrong had been terminated without an indictment being filed against him.

It’s Super Bowl XLVI which means Super Bowl 105051 in real numbers. It’s hard to believe we’ve played that many Super Bowls since the 60s. The only person left with skin in the game is Ryan so he actually dissects the game. The rest of us spend most of the podcast talking about what the Super Bowl is all about — no, not commercials you corporate bastard — Prop Bets!

And debt is the key word here, as MLB (Major League Baseball) team owners handed current MLB Commissioner, Bud Selig, an extension to his present contract by adding another 2 years.
Bud Selig had hoped to ride off into the sunset after the completion of this coming 2012 baseball season, when his most recent contract was to expire.
Down to the final four and the Patriots are now even money to win the Super Bowl. The Niners are +205, the Giants are +220, and the Ravens bring up the rear at +485, which curiously means their odds of winning the Super Bowl went down. This has absolutely everything to do with the beatdown the Patriots laid on the Tebows. We wonder if Super Bowl odds are locker room fodder.
We’ll see if the Giants are a team of destiny, or whether they just caught the Packers on a really bad day.

RJ brings up an interesting question this week: has a team coming off the first round bye ever been an underdog? That might be the most interesting game of the week, at least according to Vegas. Can the second best scoring defense slow down the second best scoring offense in the league? Is watching game film of the St. Louis Rams really a strategy?
We’ll also see if the Broncos and Giants are for real. In Baltimore, everyone is healthy and Joe Flacco is already playing the no respect card.

Isn’t it funny the the marquee game of the week is the one featuring a team that’s not good enough to even win their own conference and a team that backed into the playoffs because everyone else around them decided to be the worst they could be? Must be fate. Or the hand of God. Take your pick.
Either way, this might be the worst opening round of the NFL playoffs we’ve had in some time. On paper. Which means this could be the absolute best weekend of football ever.
