Week 7 was a reversal of the previous week. We all did pretty well with our straight up picks but we all lost our Locks of the Week. We’re gonna try to put both parts together this week as we head into the middle of the season.

The featured games this week are Lions @ Bears, Giants @ Miami, Redskins @ Patriots, and Packers @ Denver.. You can download the podcast directly (running time 55 mins) or subscribe to the feed.

Locks of the Week

[Editor’s Note: This year, we’re making the Locks of the Week a little more interesting as we have a side bet amongst the four experts. The person with the most money at the end of the year in Locks betting takes home all the money. Disclaimer: The amounts discussed are for illustrative and entertainment purposes only. Vegas Vinny: I made the mistake last week of debating between the Ravens/Bills game and the Colts/Jags game as my lock of the week and choosing the Ravens. Another stupid loss this year in my locks of the week. Now I’m sitting on 2-5 and debating between Colts over Panthers and Giants over Miami. Well, I’m not making that mistake again. I’m on board the Colts betting bandwagon. This is a classic trap game — coming off a Monday nighter and then having the BIG SHOWDOWN with the Patriots looming in week 9. Well, it doesn’t matter. The Carolina Panthers are one of the two biggest fraud division leaders (Chiefs being the other) in the league and will get blown out by the Colts this weekend.

Expect a huge game from Peyton Manning, Reggie Wayne, and Dallas Clark as the Panthers, who give up 221 yards per game passing, don’t have the secondary to keep up. The two Panthers safeties (Chris Harris and Jarrod Cooper) weren’t even on the Panthers roster in training camp. You’re telling me that they’re going to stop Dallas Clark and provide good support for the cornerbacks against Marvin and Reggie? Very doubtful. I’ll put $110 to win $100 on the Colts (-6.5). (Balance = $920)

BostonMac: I had some bad luck the last two weeks. I thought for sure I had properly prognosticated the Jets’ monumental upset of the Bengals, only to see the Mangina and his squad blow it like a Wall Street bond trader in a 1987 restaurant bathroom. So this time I am going with a different angle: the home ‘dog. Minnesota played Dallas pretty tough last week, especially on defense. In fact, the Vikes’ defense has yet to give up a 100-yard rusher this whole season, and has only allowed one rushing touchdown. Vin is right—Brian Westbrook is a phenomenal talent and is the key to the Eagles’ offense. But the Vikes’ defense at home will have enough to corral him and probably come up with a score of its own. Adrian Peterson, on the other hand, is shaping up to be a top-notch talent in the league and has shown the ability to carry the offense, which he has to do since his quarterback is the immortal Tarvaris Jackson. After two weeks of bad luck, I am putting $55 to win $50 on MINNESOTA (+1) to knock off the Eagles at home. (Balance = $1190)

Trevor F: I’m taking Indy walk into Carolina and put the hammer on them. I haven’t
seen an undefeated, defending Super Bowl Champion get as little respect as
they have this year. Everybody has already handed New England the
Lombardi Trophy and I think that is burning up Peyton Manning and Tony
Dungy. The Colts send a message to New England and win big over a hurting
Carolina. $55 on the Colts (-6.5) to win $50. (Balance = $1090)

RJ Warner: (Balance = $1140)
