Imagine This

Imagine this for a minute.  Imagine sitting down and watching all the NFL games played so far, but with a twist.  Imagine that prior to this season you have never watched any football in your life.  You’re completely new to the sport and evaluating people just as you see it.  With no bias from previous seasons or accomplishments from 7 years ago jading your judgment.Imagine if a certain quarterback was in the bottom half of all starters in QB rating and led the league in picks.  Then when you watched most of the NFL shows on TV the majority of analysts still praised him.  You would probably be scratching your head wondering where all this comments about him being a “fighter” and “warrior” come from.  As well as all the talk that he still gives the team the best chance to win.

Most of you realize that I’m talking about Brett Favre.  The man with the free pass to suck for as long as he would like.  I’m not denying how great he once was.  When he does retire he will be a first ballot hall of famer, and deservedly so.  No one, including me can take his prior greatness away from him.

Lets face the facts though, the once great Favre is gone.  Now I know the Packers have had a ton of injuries.  Obviously that has hurt the team quite a bit.  What might be hurting the team even more is him just throwing the ball up for grabs or into traffic when there is nothing there.

I know everyone loves to rush to the defense of him.  People who disagree with this will throw out past years of glory.  As well as personal tragedies he has had to overcome.  Does this give him the right to play like garbage for the next 2 or 3 years if he wants.  Most people would actually say yes, that he has earned that.  I disagree, last night’s monday night contest against the Vikings was a prime example.  More picks were thrown, some that really hurt team.  Giving up a defense touchdown especially hurts against Minnesota, whose offense is absolutely terrible.  I also think the talk of the Vikings 3 game winning streak is a bit ridiculous.  They are still garbage, and have got really lucky with special team and defensive scores.  I don’t think we need to hear how Brad Johnson manages the game.  He puts up no points and has been bailed out by the other 2 units on the football team.

I Know Brett might be the most loved figure in the league, but times are changing.  I know people will always have his back.  I also know the Packers have a lot of injuries.  They aren’t the only team though,  Tom Brady has stepped up big to carry the Patriots with all their injuries.  Just imagine how many others would still be starting when they are having this type of season.

PLEASE USE SPELL CHECK I was noticing mistakes so I sent it to microsoft word.

Spell check found 7 legitamite mistakes before I lost count. Questions should be followed by question marks; you have commas in place of semicolons; you have words that need to be capitalized not capitalized.

PLEASE USE SPELL CHECK!

Also, it is hall-of-famer. Spell check does not find that one….
