As most of you know, last year there was a lot of BCS controversy. There were three teams with perfect records, USC, Oklahoma and Auburn. The controversy was on which two teams should go to the National Championship. The BCS said that USC and Oklahoma should go and it had a lot of people outraged. One of the main reasons for this problem was the pre-season polls.

My Heisman Top 10
The Heisman Trophy may be the most prestigious award in all of sports. It is given to the top college football player in the country, and it is an honor that will last a lifetime. There are many guys this year that have a shot at winning it, but there are a few that should be considered favorites. Here are my top 10 candidates to take the hardware home.
Last year it could have been anyone’s trophy, well except for one. And ironically the one player who had no shot of winning it was that of this year’s no. 1 pick in the NFL Draft, or otherwise known as Alex Smith. As for the others the race could have come to a coin toss it was thought to have been so close. To start off, the winner of the previous Heisman Trophy was back in contention along with his young superstar teammate. And on the other side were also two teammates in the running for the most coveted award in all of college football as far as player recognition goes. The two teams represented by the four players, respectively, were Oklahoma and Southern California. Oh yeah, and the University of Utah was also there too. But in the end USC’s quarterback Matt Leinart was the player left standing. And for the naysayers who believed that there should have been another winner Leinart proved them all wrong by having the “game of his life” in the 2005 Orange Bowl which gave his team, USC Trojans, the national championship.
ACC Preview 2005
Last year Virginia Tech made a stunning run to win the ACC championship. This year the ACC should have some more competition with the newcomers settling in and the prestigious schools getting back to their normal ways. The battle for the ACC should be really exciting this year and it looks like the teams are ready and raring to go.
The SEC will be one of the top 3 conferences in the nation again this year. Steve Spurrier’s return to the conference at South Carolina only makes the conference that much tougher. There are no less than 7 teams that could provide cases for being in the top 20 this year. The races in the SEC East & West will be close as usual, but I think there are a couple of teams that will distinguish themselves this season.
The PAC-10 TOP 5 is…..
USC were #1 in the country, and Cal were almost as good too. Arizona State rode good quarterbacking all the way to a surpise Sun Bowl victory over Kyle Orton and Purude, whilst Oregon and Oregon State were their usual inconsistent selves. UCLA weren’t as bad as their 6-6 record indicated, whilst Washington, Washington State, and Arizona had ‘rebuilding years’.
So who’s 2005’s top 5??
Big Ten Preview
The Big Ten will most certainly be the perennial powerhouse that we have grown accustomed to. The upcoming college season will bring a bit of parity to a league often dominated by Michigan and Ohio State. Even the teams that will fall in the bottom half of the standings such as Penn State and Illinois are capable of springing upsets. Who will come out on top? It’s not New Year’s Eve yet, but let’s countdown the five best teams in the Big Ten for 2005.
It is not every day that I find myself siding with a coach over a commissioner, but for once the coach is right.
Party Token
Imagine you are attending an institute of higher learning. Imagine that while at this institute you stray into a party. Now imagine that you are sexually harassed by football players. Finally, imagine bargaining the amount of money you pay the school for sexually harassing you down to $70,000.
With the 2005 NFL Draft only a couple weeks old, it is time to start looking ahead to the 2006 NFL Draft, by the way it is only less than a year away.
