The Weekly Musings – Feb 3rd-10th

Welcome back, Gents, to the Weekly Musings. Yeah, so we missed a few weeks. It’s not like I’m getting paid for this bidness.  But here at the Weekly Musings we like to provide a service, so we’re going to dive into some Atlantic Division fun and shore up the top two teams for the playoffs. Of course, we’ll get our jabs in here and our barbs inthere, but it’s all in good fun right? Right, KG? Please don’t hurt me.

Let’s just get out on the break and fill the lane!

No matter who loved Waltah- it was time to go

Someone go put Tommy Heinsohn under a 24-hour watch.  From now on, Heinsohn won’t be able to declare his love for Waltah unless Tommy changes his allegiances from Celtics’ green to Suns’ purple and orange.

Yes, today Walter McCarty was finally traded to Phoenix for a future second-round pick.  The deal has been in the works for at least a couple weeks as the Suns initially balked at taking McCarty because they were weary of the versatile forwards’ player option for next season. It appears that the Celtics were able to soothe the Suns’ fears by adding an undisclosed amount of cash to the deal.

Tom Brady = Joe Montana?

By Jeremy Burnham

This article will sound funny coming from me. Just 24 hours ago, I wrote an article that offended a lot of Joe Montana fans who disagreed with me when I said that Steve Young was the best QB ever to play the game. However, instead of getting back into that topic, I want to bring up the topic I had been planing for Super Bowl Sunday for quite some time. That topic is Tom Brady being called the new Joe Montana.

Orange faced with critical issues at the most crucial of moments

By Sean Quinn

If you a measure a team by big games, Syracuse looks oh so small.  They have lost to their last three ranked opponents and were outplayed for most of the largest attended game in college basketball history against Notre Dame on Saturday.  In the thick of the most critical stretch of the season, with three straight ranked Big East foes ahead of them, Syracuse needs to start finishing strong.

The End of a Dynasty?

Lately people have been talking about the departures of Offensive Coordinator, Charlie Weis and Defensive Coordinator, Romeo Crennel as the end of the New England Patriots’ dynasty. This claim brings with it many assumptions, assumptions that devalue Bill Belichick and the players of the back-to-back World Champions.

The Commonwealth of Mass Euphoria

By Ryan McGowan

Who would have thought they’d live long enough to see it?

I’m not talking about the Red Sox winning the World Series.  I’m not talking about the Patriots winning the Super Bowl, once an unthinkable concept that never crossed our minds during the Tony Eason/Hart Lee Dykes/Zeke Mowatt era of the Patriots in which I grew up.  I’m certainly not talking about the Patriots winning three out of four Super Bowls, which during my high school years in the mid-90’s seemed about as likely as my chances of getting with Tiffany Amber-Thiessen.
