Will anyone remember The Truth?

Let’s hope that Paul Pierce is a fast typist and has ample personalized stationary around. After last night’s wild playoff win in Indiana, he’s sure going to need it.

As just about everyone in North America is probably aware, Pierce was intentionally fouled by Jamaal Tinsley with 12.7 seconds left in game 6, with the Celtics leading 84-83. Because Tinsley hit Pierce in the mouth, the Celtics’ captain angrily swatted Tinsley’s hand away and the Pacers’ point guard dramatically (and exaggeratedly) fell to the ground. After a conference with his fellow referees, Steve Javie called a technical foul on Pierce, his second of the game, resulting in an automatic ejection and a Reggie Miller game-tying free throw. Because Pierce could no longer shoot the freebie, Indiana was free to choose anyone off the Celtics’ bench to shoot and confidently selected 20-year-old Kendrick Perkins, who promptly missed them both. By some miracle, the Celtics were able to overcome all this adversity and pull out the game in overtime without their star.

MLB Power Rankings May 4 2005

A month down in the MLB, and we can’t really be sure of anything – except maybe that the White Sox are the best team in the league right now and the Rockies the worst. Here’s the power rankings up until now, comments are encouraged.

Steroids vs. Gambling: The Deadlier Sin

“In gambling, the many must lose so that the few may win.” -George Bernard Shaw

I once asked a tech support guy in the Apple Store what the over/under line was on how long it would take to fix my ibook charger, and if I could arrange a payment plan based on the money line. There’s more money on my Foxwoods Casino card than there is in my checking account. And I may or may not have put point spreads on Connect Four games. (It can be done.)

Chicago…

Chicago. The second city. The second largest and third most populated city in this great country of ours. We have four major sports teams; the Bears, Bulls, White Sox and Cubs. These four teams get no credit and no respect from the national medias.

Here in Chicago we have the most passionate fans on Earth and four losing teams. In my estimation I live in the greatest sports city in the world and I am tired of the national sports networks not giving my teams any props.

Funny what you find out….

I was having a shower one night and something hit me: if I love the sports world, then I should have take a valid interest in what’s happening behind the scenes, instead of in front of it.

And after doing some research, here’s what I found out:

Will LeBron stay in Cleveland?

The Cleveland Cavaliers are in trouble. With the recent skid of the Cavs, the bigger picture sparks a very important question. Will Cleveland be able to keep LeBron James? Some answer yes, some answer no.

Maria Sharapova – How Hot is She?

In honor of Miss Sharapova turning 18, we are bringing this story back to the front door. Enjoy.

Maria Sharapova pic My friend Ted was one of first people I know on the Anna Kournikova bandwagon back in the day.  So when he sent me an email about Maria Sharapova, my google toolbar search was quickly fired up.  First came the the news results: Sharapova reaches Wimbledon Finals by defeating the BIG GIRL / Maria Sharapova, more than a pretty face / Maria’s actually got game / Maria: I’m not a pin-up.

“I’m not the new anyone, and certainly not the new Kournikova. People seem to forget that Anna isn’t in the picture any more, it’s Maria time now. You can’t compare us. She never won a single tournament, and I’ve won two already. Besides, I intend having a lot longer career than she did,” she was quoted as saying.

BORRRRRING!

Get back on that bandwagon!

It’s remarkable how far Celtic Nation has come in exactly one week. On Wednesday, March 23rd, it seemed even many grounded fans had visions of grandeur for the Green and White. Seven days later, suddenly everyone is wondering if the C’s will slide into the 7th or 8th spot in the Eastern Conference or even [gasp] out of the playoffs altogether. All you hear anymore about this team is that they stand around too much on offense, can’t play any defense, and that Antoine Walker shoots too much and from too far away.  After spending almost a month of predicting that the Celtics were poised to make a run at the Eastern Conference finals and beyond, fans now appear poised to give up with barely even a whimper.

March Madness: why I root for me

March Madness is just no fun when you lose out on bragging rights…

Normally I love the underdog. But you didn’t hear me scream “Go Bucknell! Go Vermont! Go West Virginia!” on the first weekend of March Madness. Why? Because I didn’t pick them in my March Madness pool. And as is the case of anything I do, I hate losing.
