Fire Up the Hot Stove: Chicago Cubs

“Wait till Next Year”

That famous quote year after year after year. Why? Why do I as a Cubs fan have to say this every year, at this same time of the year? 1908.  1908 is the last year the Cubs won a World Series Championship, and ever since then it has been a living hell for every Cubs fan throughout the world.

But, I have a way that this team can contend next year and for several years to come. All the Cubs need to do this off-season is spend the money (and there is a lot to spend) in the places they need to spend the money.

They need to make decision on most ever position on their roster and it won’t be easy. This year’s free agent pool is very thin, but they have some in-house parts to use for next season. I will go position by position and tell what I think the Chicago Cubs need to do to become a possible play-off contender.

The Real North vs. South

There is one rivalry in sports that I just don’t understand. It’s not as much a rivalry between teams as it is a rivalry between fans!! The rivalry that I am talking about is the one between the Chicago Cubs and White Sox.

These two teams first began the Cross-Town Classic back in 1997. They have played each other 6 times a year: 3 times at Wrigley Field and 3 at U.S. Cellular Field.

Chicago…

Chicago. The second city. The second largest and third most populated city in this great country of ours. We have four major sports teams; the Bears, Bulls, White Sox and Cubs. These four teams get no credit and no respect from the national medias.

Here in Chicago we have the most passionate fans on Earth and four losing teams. In my estimation I live in the greatest sports city in the world and I am tired of the national sports networks not giving my teams any props.

NASCAR Teams and Drivers Roll Dice in Vegas

The Roush Racing Fords have been a dominant force in the past several years at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Jack Roush’s Fords have won five of the past seven races at Vegas coming in to this past weekends race. If you were ever going to bet on a Jack Roush car to win a race the UAW-Daimler Chrysler 400 would normally be that race, except this weekend was meant for the John Hendricks Chevrolets.

Trouble for the Cubs

The Chicago Cubs are in trouble. They have no leadoff man, no closer, and now may start the season with out its number one and one-A pitchers.
