We’re halfway through the NFL season and it’s actually getting harder to pick the games. Outside of the Packers (I just jinxed them), are there any great teams / sure things in the NFL this year? The Sunday night battle between the Steelers and the Ravens should answer a lot of questions in that regard. But in the NFC, the Niners might clinch their division before thanksgiving and nobody really knows it they are a legitimate contender. Meanwhile the NFC South is up for grabs and the Lions are the best wildcard team. Madness.

Not a very good week last week for some of us but we’ll rebound this week. (Everyone who picked Jacksonville to win the game, raise your hand.) There are some intriguing matchups this week but the last two games on Sunday, Patriots/Steelers and Cowboys/Eagles are the big draws. We’ll also find out how the Lions rebound from adversity and whether Tim Tebow was a half game fluke last week.

It’s a big week for new quarterbacks. John Beck gets the nod in Washington and Christian Ponder replaces McNabb is Minnesota. But most importantly, Tim “The Savior/ Media Darling” Tebow gets his first start in Miami. Of the three, Beck finds himself in the worst situation. No one expects the Vikings to even come within a touchdown of the Packers and Tebow will have plenty of “hometown” support in Miami and goes up against the worst team in the league. We’ll see how it all shakes out.

The start of the bye weeks was not kind to us. The biggest surprise of week 5 was Seattle beating the Giants. How many people got knocked out of their survival pools because Eli Manning might be worse than Cooper Manning at this point? Following on that point, most of us are picking Buffallo to be the upset special this week.

It’s the start of the bye weeks which means less good games to go around. If you think the choice of featured games this week are a stretch, it’s because they are. But hey, at least you don’t have to watch Indy on prime time this week so that counts for something.

Anyone who told you they knew the last 3 undefeated teams would be Detroit, Buffalo, and Green Bay is lying. While everyone thought GB would be super, and everyone was jumping on the Detrot bandwagon, the biggest surprise of the season has to be the Buffalo Bills. Most people expected 1-2 at best after 3 weeks. Now watch them lose to a dreadful team like the Cincinatti Bengals just to put the NFL world back on its axis.

If you want to pick winners, just pick the favorite. Last week, only 3 dogs pulled off the upset and the only real upset was Tennessee over Baltimore. If you want to pick Against the Spread, then flip a coin. The favorites went 9-7 last week ATS. What does this mean for week 3? Probably nothing.
