The final week of the season has arrived. The Wings take over the two spot, but the biggest winner of the week are the Ducks, who move up three spots, while the losers of the week are the Canucks who drop three. The Devils move up in the power rankings despite firing their coach.

Lessons from Bluffton
Until a month ago, I had never heard of Bluffton University, a tiny Mennonite liberal arts college of less than 1200 students in the northwest Ohio town of the same name and just as obscure.
And in a couple months, I won’t even remember the name. But right now, it’s a story we can all learn from.

Our Look At The Final Four

Goosebumps. That was what filled my arm down the stretch of the Georgetown-North Carolina game as I watched the Hoyas rally back to deliver a revenge punch that had been twenty-five years in the making. And I’ll be quite honest…….I was worried that this Elite Eight was going to leave us wanting for more. I thought the only goosebumps I was going to get all weekend was from a second viewing of last Wednesday’s “Friday Night Lights” (“friends……friends….Texas forever….Texas forever man”). Then the last seven minutes of regulation and overtime gave us the stirring comeback we had been dying for all weekend.
Fighting in the NHL: A Different Take
Over the past couple of months, fighting in the NHL has been lambasted by so-called “sports experts”. Most of this fodder is coming from people who have no interest in the sport. They have no interest, therefore, are ignorant to the history of the sport, and what role fighting plays in that vast history. True hockey fans know exactly why fighting is in the sport. It exists for many reasons. Maybe a skill player is getting too much physical play from a defenseman, or maybe that player has crossed the line with your skill player. Also, fighting can be the same as the two-out hit that sparks a rally.
After giving you my rankings for the hitters, it’s now time for the pitchers. While closers are generally easy to predict, the starters are a whole different animal. After about the top eight or so, there is a group of about 15-20 starters that can be grouped in many different ways. The trick is to find candidates for a breakout year, such as Brandon Webb or Aaron Harang last season.

Yes, a promise was made during the March Madness Chat. If Edmonton and Los Angles didn’t get their acts together, the Flyers were going to move out of the basement. So, this week, my big winners are the Flyers, even though the Jackets and Hawks benifited from Edmonton and LA’s demotion. Where did your team fimish this week?
