The Cleveland Cavaliers are in trouble. With the recent skid of the Cavs, the bigger picture sparks a very important question. Will Cleveland be able to keep LeBron James? Some answer yes, some answer no.
“Yankees suck!” is a popular chant around Major League Baseball stadiums for years. And for 1996-2004, you’d probably be able to argue. But in 2005, your writer, a true, die-hard Yankee fan, would be inclined to agree…..
Smith better choice than Rodgers
By Alex Fitzsimmons, email [email protected]
His fire burns deeply inside the soul of his body, like molten rock burning fathoms beneath the earth’s surface.
His fire is the undivided and exclusive passion for the game that few ever attain. His name is Alex Smith.
A Plea for a Breather
My boss is in the process of buying a new apartment, so he says to me, “A study once reported, the 3 most stressful things to do in life are switch jobs, move, or get a divorce.” (Yeah, I think this is just how people in the pharmaceutical business talk. No claim can be made without a clinical trial to support it, I guess.) Then he goes on, “But I’m thinking for you the most stressful things involve a player getting traded, away games, and the playoffs.”
He’s not too far from the truth. As if the trials and tribulations of post-college life weren’t taxing enough, baseball is officially making my head spin.
Graduation
I did it; I watched the NFL Draft.
I know I said I wouldn’t, but I did.
On The Clock
There’s been a little something missing in my life recently. I don’t know if I’m the only one who’s felt this way, but sports have left me feeling a little empty the past few months. Sure, the three Yankees-Red Sox games each day are great, and the smooth, dulcid tones of Stephen A. Smith can relax even the most tightly wound sports fan, but watching ESPN just hasn’t provided the same enjoyment for me recently. It wasn’t until this week that the origin of my problem dawned on me: I’ve been going through Michael Irvin Withdrawl.

My friend Ted was one of first people I know on the Anna Kournikova bandwagon back in the day. So when he sent me an email about Maria Sharapova, my google toolbar search was quickly fired up. First came the the news results: Sharapova reaches Wimbledon Finals by defeating the BIG GIRL / Maria Sharapova, more than a pretty face / Maria’s actually got game / Maria: I’m not a pin-up.
“I’m not the new anyone, and certainly not the new Kournikova. People seem to forget that Anna isn’t in the picture any more, it’s Maria time now. You can’t compare us. She never won a single tournament, and I’ve won two already. Besides, I intend having a lot longer career than she did,” she was quoted as saying. BORRRRRING! |
George Allen called him the best safety to ever play the game. He calls himself the “reluctant” player who was not highly recruited by colleges after graduating high school and who was a member of the “others”, a group of back up players who didn’t often get on the field.
