Interview with Poker Superstar- Daniel Negreanu

When Daniel Negreanu’s parents came to Toronto from Romania, they brought dreams for their unborn child. Little did they know, they were providing the free reign for their son to become one of the best poker players in the world.

This high school dropout was born on July 26, 1974 in Toronto, Canada. Once he turned 21 he moved to the mecca of gambling, Las Vegas, where he lives now.

Negreanu won the U.S. Poker title in 1999 and a list of other titles since he turned pro in 1997.  At the age of 23, he won the first World Series of Poker event that he had ever entered, Pot Limit Hold `em. Between 1997 and 1999, his 12 major tournament victories were more than any other player.

In the 2004 World Series of Poker, Negreanu won one bracelet and placed in money positions in five other events, claiming ESPN’s Toyota Player of the Year award.

At only 29 years old, Negreanu has six World Series of Poker bracelets, and is the all-time leading money winner on the World Poker Tour Circuit. Negreanu took some time out of his busy schedule to talk to me in an interview in mid May, 2005.

Mike from Arlington Named New Sox GM

By Ryan McGowan

BOSTON, MA — In an unprecedented move, Boston Red Sox owners John W. Henry, Tom Werner, and Larry Lucchino announced today that Senior Vice President and General Manager Theo Epstein, who was named GM in 2002 and was largely credited for building the team that finally broke through and won the World Series in 2004, has been replaced in his position by Mike from Arlington, a frequent listen and occasional caller to WEEI sports radio.

Philadelphia Sports – 25 Years Later

It was the greatest year possibly in the history of Philadelphia sports. The Eagles were in the Super Bowl. The Flyers played for the Stanley Cup. The Sixers went up against the Lakers in the NBA Finals. The Phillies won the World Series. It was a time of bliss and pride and excitement. And here we are. Twenty five years later we are in a quite different state of mind.

The Rich- the Fast- and the Furious

We would all love to have the life of an athlete (we all have wanted to at some point in our lives).  They are envied for the way they live.  People want to be able to rake in money the same way athletes do.  They want to have their cars, and the clothes they wear.  Non-athletes want to be able to go home everyday to the same size houses as athletes do.  Yet, some athletes still have no clue of how good they’ve got it.  It’s hard to believe the reports that people still here about the dumb decisions athletes are still making.  Trends of dumb decisions among athletes have all dealt with one of the things athletes are envied for, cars.  For some reason athletes feel as though they are obligated to go as fast as they can in their fancy rides.  With the rates of speeds from athletes these days, many are prone to accidents.  Those whom are unfortunately involved in accidents sometimes have their career taken from them, and sometimes have their lives taken also.

MLB Power Rankings 25 May 2005

Interleague play isn’t much more entertaining to me than intraleague play unless its one of the big rivalries, but it is fun to see teams play that may never do so again. Here are the power rankings after the seventh week of the MLB season; feedback is appreciated.

Miller made a franchise- city matter

Basketball is only a game, a simple game actually. Take a ball, put it in the hoop, repeat. The game doesn’t solve life’s problems. The game doesn’t stop a war or feed hungry children or give shelter to the homeless. It’s simply a game. It shouldn’t mean as much to so many people as it does.

Reginald Wayne Miller is just man who could put a ball in a hoop. He shouldn’t mean as much to a franchise, a city, a state as he does. He shouldn’t be this important, but he is.

AGE LIMIT IN THE NBA

A hot topic these days is the age that athletes are allowed to come into the NBA.  There are great points for both sides, all valid and both sides I can understand.  For me though, I have to side with having an age limit

49ers Like the Smell of the Cellar

The San Francisco 49ers won only two games last year beating the same team, the Arizona Cardinals twice, earning the number one overall draft pick for the first time in the franchises history. Although the Niners drafted some quality players, they are still far away from competing and could end up with the number one overall draft pick in next years draft.
