NFL Power Rankings Week 11 – November 22 2005

A bit of a shakeup near the top as some fraudulent teams (Cincy, Carolina, Atlanta) fall in the rankings. And we finally listened to the Chicago fans and put the the Bears in the top 10.

Comments? Gripes? Suggestions? (Other than the suggestion the cabbie gave Luke Wilson in Old School.) All welcome. Here we go with the Week 11 NFL Power Rankings.

NBA Power Rankings Vol 1 – November 17 2005

Surprise is a word most basketball fans are accustomed to by now. After a couple of weeks of the 2005-06 season, most of the standings are a surprise. There are a few teams that fans had huge expectations for along with a few teams that fans had no hope for. The Sacramento Kings, New York Knicks and the Seattle Sonics are a few of those teams that already find themselves at the bottom of the standings and whoever would’ve thought the Clippers would be 4 games over .500? Let’s check out the first week of power rankings powered by Courtside Magazine in order to see which teams are rising and which teams are sinking faster than the Titanic.

NFL Week 11 Picks November 20 2005

Last week wasn’t such a great week to pick games. But really, did anyone expect the Bucs, Vikings and the Packers to win on the road? It sure made for a great week of football watching. We’ve got some upsets baked in this week so let’s see if the trend continues.

As always we have a podcast to go along with the picks this week. If you enjoy the podcast, please go to the yahoo directory and vote for us.

NFL Power Rankings Week 10 – November 15 2005

When 3 of the teams in the Top 10 lose to inferior opponents, you can expect a shake up in our Power Rankings. The top three (Indy, Pitts, Denver) don’t change but we have Cinci and Seattle moving up. This week’s big game of Colts at Bengals will go a long way in determining whether Cinci belongs up there. Meanwhile, the Giants and Falcons deservedly drop in the ranks.

NFL Power Rankings Week 9 – November 8 2005

Not much changed at all in the week 9 power rankings. Almost every team ranked above their opponents won. And the week was filled with matchups of top 15 vs bottom 15 teams so nobody went anywhere. Things are more interesting when the power rankings get shaken up so let’s hope for some big upsets next week.

Breaking news: Terrell Owens "Keyshawned"

Just announced by Andy Reid on his press conference. No further answers because of a pending NFLPA grievance. TO just notified 1/2 hour ago.

By the way, I’m in danger of hurting myself patting my back but you heard it here first.

Carolina Panthers cheerleaders caught having sex in nightclub bathroom

Editor’s note: OK, I realize that this isn’t exactly column worthy (Sportscolumn blog is coming soon!) but I couldn’t pass up a chance to post a story that is about 99% of red blooded males’ fantasy.

According to Tampa Bay Online and Fox Sports, Kristen Owen, 22 and Angela Keathley, 26, were having sex with each other in a bar called Banana Joe’s. But that isn’t a crime. (And if it is, we have problems.) What is a crime is punching the woman behind you in line after she started complaining about the long wait. When police got there, one of the cheerleaders was belligerent and resisted arrest. Other members of the Panthers cheerleader squad came to bail them out. Sadly, no sex broke out.

UPDATE: It turns out that the other cheerleader in question was Renee Thomas and not Kristen Owen. She gave the police the wrong name.

Ok, I’m done being a perv now. Pics of the cheerleaders after the jump.

Rumor Central: TO to be suspended

I guess the Philadelphia Eagles have had enough of his act and will “Keyshawn” him for the rest of the season. The final straw might have been his statement that the Eagles would be 7-0 with Brett Favre at the helm and that McNabb is hurting the team. Clearly, anyone who thinks that is violating the league’s substance abuse policy. (Thanks for the tip, BP.)

Update: Reid in response to a question about suspending TO, replied, “We’ll see how things go, I’m still in the middle of addressing the whole issue and finding out all the information.”

Update 11/5: ESPN is reporting that Terrell Owens is suspended indefinitely.

NFL Week 9 Picks November 6 2005

Can you believe it’s week 9 already? This season is going by way too quickly. The good news is that after a hard start, we are hitting our stride. Once again, we beat the ESPN experts .732 to .675 correct. If you want to check out how we stack up against almost every site that picks games, check out this nifty spreadsheet from Tokar.

If you’re using these picks for advice on your office pool, go with BostonMac aka Ryan McGowan. He’s been on a tear lately. Aside from his homer pick of Patriots over Colts this week, the rest are solid.
