Heisman Watch 1st Edition

The Heisman Trophy is one of the most coveted awards in college football. Winning the Heisman Trophy puts you among the best payers in college football. There are some fantastic players this year in college football and I’m going to watch them weekly to see who deserves the Heisman Trophy.1. Vince Young, QB, Texas, Jr.

The number one person so far has people quite divided, but I have Vince Young at number one. The reason I have him ahead of Matt Leinart is game play and intangibles. The only way I can describe Vince Young so far is that he is a beast. He’s got 544 passing yards, 202 rushing yards and 6 total TD’s. He’s got good numbers but what really impresses me is his playmaking ability. In the game against Ohio State, he led his team to victory and just showed what an athlete he really is. I’m watching the game and Ohio State is winning. I leave for 10 minutes, come back and Texas is winning mainly because of Vince Young. I think his ability to win the big game and his composure puts him in the number one spot in the Heisman.

2. Matt Leinart, QB, USC, Sr.

The reigning Heisman Trophy winner is back for his senior season and has a good chance of winning it again. Leinart has a good supporting cast and has put up great numbers so far. He has thrown for 713 yards with a 75 % completion rating. He also has 7 TD’s and 1 INT. Leinart had elbow surgery before the season started and we will have to see if it has any affect on his arm strength. Leinart and USC have completely walloped their last two opponents but we will have to see what happens later on in the season when USC faces more difficult teams.

3. Reggie Bush, RB, USC, Jr.

Reggie Bush is known throughout the country for his ability to break games wide open. Bush is also in the Heisman race with his teammate, Leinart, and is a good candidate. What impresses me most about Reggie is his versatility. His running and catching ability makes him a likely candidate for the Heisman. Bush has decent numbers with 211 rushing yards and 128 receiving yards. He also has 4 total TD’s. Bush is a legitimate candidate and should give anyone who is ahead of him a run for their money.

4. Reggie McNeal, QB, Texas A&M, Sr.

The other Reggie hasn’t gotten as much publicity as Reggie Bush, but is just as important, if not more, than Bush to his team. McNeal is the full package at quarterback. He has got a great, strong arm and has the ability to scramble very well. He has been fantastic for A&M throwing for 459 yards and 6 TD’s. He also ran for 200 rushing yards and one TD. His play on the field has been great so far and his stock his rising quick. Towards the end of the season you could see McNeal’s name at number 1.
5. Omar Jacobs, QB, Bowling Green, Jr.

Omar Jacobs gets looked over sometimes because he is not in a BCS conference, but this guy is the real deal. He’s just electric on the field. He’s another quarterback that can throw and can run. He has done it all for Bowling Green, an otherwise mediocre team. He’s thrown for a whopping 886 yards, 10 TD’s and 2 picks. He hasn’t run quite as much but his passing stats are ridiculous. If he keeps this up, he could be the one hoisting the Heisman and the Maxwell. We shall see how Jacobs’ play effects Bowling Greens status also at the end of the year.

Outside Looking In:

Brian Brohm, QB, Louisville, So.
Brohm is a long shot playing at Louisville and he is young but Brohm has a lot of potential and talent. Depending on how well Louisville does this season, Brohm could be in the Heisman race

Laurence Maroney, RB, Minnesota, Jr.
Maroney had a very good season last year knowing that he had to share the carries with Marion Barber III. He has started right where he left off and has run for 481 yards and 6 TD’s. Those are Heisman quality stats, but I need to see Minnesota play some tougher games before I put him in the top 5.

Brian Calhoun, RB, Wisconsin, Jr.
Not many people know about Brian Calhoun. He had an unbelievable first game against Bowling Green and has some very good stats. He has run for 471 yards and 8 TD’s. If he continues to play in this fashion, he could be in the top 5 in the Heisman race.

Chris Leak, QB, Florida, Jr.
Chris Leak a new system in place with coach Urban Meyer coming in and has taken it in very well. He has thrown for a very good 718 yards and 5 TD’s. If Coach Meyer can utilize Leak’s talents, Leak can be a Heisman contender.

Brady Quinn, QB, Notre Dame, Jr.
Quinn has played extremely well under Charlie Weis’ system throwing for 854 yards and 9 TD’s. He could be a Heisman contender if Quinn plays as well as he has in his first 3 games.

Dont think Vince young is the front runner What stats do you have that put him above the others.

Against Ohio State he had a mediocre game…

Leinhart is a nut, and deserves the #1 spot, hes gotta better stats.

as a gator, Chris Leak is a fucking moron.

I’m sorry. I’ve never seen a stupider starting quarterback.

He is a great athlete and playmaker, but he has no brains at all. He is built for the NFL, but his decision making is sooooooooooo atrocious.

One play shows just how dumb he is:

2 seconds to go against FSU. He takes the snap. He scrambles, no one open. He runs with the ball!!! He gets like 30 yards down to the 20. Sees a guy rushing on, does not look back, does not try to keep going, no, just slides. Clock has been expired for about seven seconds.

How fucking dumb do you have to be to slide well after the clock has expired needing a touchdown to win?

I don’t give a shit that he was a freshman; that is just plain stupidity. He throws some dumb passes to avoid sacks, and is terrible in no-huddle hurry-up offense (I blamed Zook for this, but it was Leak).

Yes, he is a candidate, but he should not be.

This guy is so stupid it is not even funny.

I agree Leinhart has to be the frontrunner for the Heisman until he loses. I don’t think another player could take it from him.

can you read? I said right in the paragraph why I put Young over Leinart. It’s not all about the stats.

than your an idiot becuase according to you its not about the stats, but if it isnt why wouldnt omar jacobs be up there at #1. Hes the most important player to his team. Your a dumbass.

you’ve got to be kidding Why do people like CleBrowns, NonHacker, and EdReed even bother commenting? If you don’t like an article, a part of an article, or something someone says, you go on an immature rant, cussing and whining. Is there any possibility that you could just act normal, and say things calmly, things that actually help the writer? (I don’t know why i posted this, considering i’ll just be a retard or a dumbass according to them…)

Thank you thank you J.D. You actually understand how to comment on an article. As for you CleBrowns, you in fact are the dumbass since you once again can’t read when I said it isn’t ALL about the stats. I didn’t say stats don’t matter at all. So don’t you feel stupid and illegible now? When are you going to come to the fact that your comments aren’t appreciated?

First of all JDWC Your a bitch, honestly if you want to complain about my comments go ahead, but if you really dont like them, then dont read them. Secondly there was no critism for this article i was refering to his comment, not his article. secondly i may be cussing, but im not whining. do u want to see whining

let me show u

Oh so you weren’t commenting on my article? How many times are you going to contradict yourself? How ’bout you just stop talking because you sound more stupid with every comment you write.

when do i condtradict myself? are u an idiot, i said vince young didnt deserve the #1 spot in every article, and i said lienhart did.

do get it? you said you didn’t comment on the article and you actually did and you just admitted it. Wow, your more stupid then I thought you were.

LMAO Your making no sense, my intitial comment that says i was commenting on your comment, and i said this said this:

“becuase according to you its not about the stats, but if it isnt why wouldnt omar jacobs be up there at #1. Hes the most important player to his team. Your a dumbass.”

That referred to your comment that said “It’s not all about the stats”.

well obviously you dont know what anything is about you dumbass…

stop talking like you kno what your talking about.

and acting like its funny when your really pissed off becuase i own your dumbass.

so if you comment again im probably not gonna respond because i dont like argueing with people when i know im right, but if you choose to piss me off again, dont be surprised if i make a fool out of you.

Wow If you think by any strectch of the imagiantion that you own anyone on this site and/or know what your’re talking about than you should really look at yourself in the mirror. I mean right now, everyone knows that your wrong and you have contradicted yourself many times, your just making yourself look like a fool, not me. So go ahead, keep commenting because we already know that your the most immature person on this site mainly because your brain activity is about the same as a stick of butter.

Did you just tell me i was dumber than a sick of butter, are you 12?. Can you come up with anything besides stick of butter. Did you get that from your early morning cartoons?

“If you think by any strectch of the imagiantion that you own anyone on this site and/or know what your’re talking about than you should really look at yourself in the mirror”

I challenge you to a “sports off”

to see who is the smartest. becuase i can gurantee you i am smarter/ more intelligent than youll ever be.

and why would looking in a mirror show me that i dont own anyone, do i have a part of my body that shows this?

dont puss out, although either way your gonna get worked

just stop please just stop. First of all, since when was that insult on early morning cartoons? Were you watchhing them? I mean seriously your the most immature person on this site. You get into so many stupid squabbles on this site it is unbelievable. I’m not going to accept your challenge to a “sports-off” firstly because your idea is a dumb one. There’s probably a better idea for a sports-off so let’s let someone with a higher brain capacity than you handle that one. Secondly how dare you lie to yourself and say you are smarter than me or anyone else. When it comes down to it, you’ve become the viilage idiot of the website because your so incredibly immature. Like I said earlier just stop, no one wants to hear it anymore.

HAHAHAHA your afriad, i can tell your to pussy to accept, its alright i can understand, but if you say im as stupid as i am, then why wouldnt you except?

Anyways im pretty sure most of the people on the site liked the idea, maybe you didnt notice so let me copy and paste the comments:

This is a pretty good idea but you have to elaborate more if you want this to happen.

Wait was that you who said it was a good idea, are you contradicting yourself

sure i like the idea (none / 0) (#7)

but why is EdReed so mad at me?
You guys realize that because of the voting, sometimes I don’t even get to read the articles that get submitted before it gets voted down or published right?

still, someone explain to me why I’m supposed to be “scared” of EdReed and why I’m a “pussy”?

Yeah well who looks like a pussy, and an idiot now?

HA HA

your a loser

notice how I said elaborate more and it would be a good idea. I’m not contradicting myself. Secondly, if you can setup something where it makes sense, I’ll do your “sports-off.” You let me know if you can do that.

And… If you think the reason I didn’t accept your challenge is because I’m “scared” or a “pussy”, then your more immature then I thought.

No, see you said “This is a pretty good idea but you have to elaborate more if you want this to happen.”

meaning that i have to elaborite more to make it happen, that has nothing to do with your first thought, which is you saying that its a pretty good idea.

and if the editors see this then maybe he ocould set it up, or someone else could give the topic

ha ha is that all you can say after i made a fool of you?

You condradict yourself and deny it, then i make a fool out of you

you deny my sports off challenge

your just a dumb coward

the sad part is no I could say a lot more but don’t read and you don’t get it and I’m tired of trying to explaining it to you because your hopeless.

would you stop with the excuses, seriously, you know i made a fool of you and ur just tired of getting dominated

no you really didn’t make a fool of me and didn’t dominate me. I really don’t know what comments that your looking at. Also I’m really not commenting anymore because this is hopeless.
