Random Thoughts from a College Football Fan
The most disappointing team so far this year is not Oklahoma, Auburn, or Michigan… It’s Pittsburgh. The way Dave Wannstedt is fumbling away all the talent at Pitt is downright laughable. Random Thoughts from a College Football Fan

After watching the Oklahoma-Tulsa game, I can’t help but believe that Adrian Peterson is the best running back in the country.
Even though Miami lost to Florida St., they showed a lot of potential and Kyle Wright’s future looks bright. Tyrone Moss looks like he could be the next great Miami running back.
Despite Clemson’s 2-0 start, they don’t impress me and I think they will crash and burn sooner than later.
Virginia Tech and N.C. State looked really good against each other and I still expect both teams to win their divisions.
Tennessee against Florida will decide the SEC East crown. Georgia is good but won’t win the division.
Rhett Bomar sucks.
I can’t believe LSU beat Arizona St. LSU scored 28 fourth quarter points after only scoring 7 points in the first three quarters. However, Arizona St. looks legitimate for their Pac-10 championship run.
Was anyone else secretly wishing that The Citadel would defeat Florida St.?
I was very impressed with Ohio St. I expected Texas to win comfortably over them and that did not happen. Vince Young`s Heisman hopes will be raised but I am less impressed with him because he made a lot of stupid mistakes. Ted Ginn who? Was he injured or something?
How come Iowa can never defeat Iowa St.? I know Drew Tate went out with a concussion, but Iowa was getting stuffed before he was injured.
D.J. Shockley surprised me today by his shaky performance against an undersized South Carolina defense. He threw bad passes all day and his confidence was visibly shaken. Until he converted on 3rd and 22.
I still smile every time I see Steve Spurrier on T.V.
And finally, so much for the Big 10 being the best conference in the country.
My Top 10
- USC
- Texas
- Florida
- Virginia Tech
- Tennessee
- Notre Dame
- Ohio St.
- LSU
- Miami
- Georgia
My Picks for Next Weekend

Florida St. at Boston College

Miami at Clemson
I pick: Miami

Just a few things i think should be different I dont think Notre Dame should be ranked 6th just yet. I know Michigan was ranked #3 but they really didnt belong there. Also i think Ohio State is a better team than texas, they just made very critical mistakes. Id have them in my top 3, but i understand that would be hard to do becuase of the loss.
I think Tennesee is one of the most overrated teams in the country, but at this point in the
season you wont be able to recongnize it.
I liked the statement about tedd ginn, where the hell was he last night, he barely touched the ball.
I also dont know why Florida State is not in your top ten and miami is? Florida State beat Miami. I know you explained that, but if you put Miami there, why wouldnt you put Ohio State higher, they controlled close to the entire game
Florida State FSU struggled against Citadel (yes- the Citadel) in the first half of the game. They sucked ass. I don’t think they’ll lose to Boston College though (their defence is too darned good), but yes, they should fire Jeff Bowden as soon as humanely possible.
As as for the LSU game, I can’t believe it either.
totally disagree with your picks I think Clemson and Tenn will both win in upsets this weekend, and that Tenn will win the SEC. Call me crazy on that one, but a lot of magazines picked Tenn. as the #2 team in the country this year. Tenn isn’t overrated- they just have a brutal schedule.
Ted Ginn I don’t think you understood the importance of Ted Ginn in that football game. Texas put all their focus on Ginn and shadowed him the whole game. Some of the best players in football are sometimes used to get attention and relieve some pressure in other areas. Ohio State has good players that can make big plays. They didn’t need him that game. If you noticed, Santonio Holmes brought out most of the kickoffs and Ohio State nearly averaged mid-field position for the game. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not praising Ohio State. I just think they blew it for themselves by not being able to punch it in the endzone. As an Ohio State fan, I’m not as upset about the loss as much as I am upset about everybody in the nation jumping on Texas’ bandwagon.
Come on I don’t buy your theory that Ted Ginn Jr. was a distraction. He had two dropped balls and couldn’t get open. He didn’t show up for the game, period. And as far as everyone jumping on the “Texas” bandwagon, TEXAS WON THE GAME! Are people supposed to say “Jeez, Texas lucked out. Man, they are not that good. Ohio St. is so much better.” I think you underestimate the home field advantage in that game. I think Texas would have played better at home. Ohio St. can’t win the national championship every year, so quit complaining and look forward to what should be a very competitive season of Big 10 play.
Texas You’re right Texas didn’t luck out. They played a great game and Ohio State made mistakes and didn’t capitalize. Also, I know Texas won the game and that’s why people are on their bandwagon. There’s a lot of new Texas fans this year and I wonder why. Hmmmm. They have a heisman candidate and they are favored by most to meet USC in the BCS Title Game. Forget the OSU loss. The new fans have come out of the woodwork and now everybody is wearing texas hats and shirts saying “Hook em Horns.” To all those people I say pick a team and stick with them through good or bad.
