Top Five Las Vegas Casino Sports Books

An Exclusive Feature Story From Sportscolumn & Hotelchatter.com

When the founding fathers spoke of inalienable rights, I’m pretty sure they meant to include betting on sports as one of them.

If your idea of time well spent is watching the game on a huge screen while holding a betting slip as you talk trash to your buddy, then you must make a pilgrimage to Las Vegas. In a town of sin and sex, we’d like to add sports to the mix.

The Worst Sports Book in Las Vegas

Here’s something we don’t understand. Why would anyone place a bet at the Luxor Las Vegas sports book?  I think they’ve taken this Egyptian pyramid theme too far as it feels like you’re actually entombed and the technology is from 3000 BC. They still have to write their lines with dry erase marker on a whiteboard. There’s better technology at the local bookie in your hometown.
The one saving grace could be that they have the best odds in Vegas — but they don’t. 18-1 for the Raiders to win the Super Bowl?

Either the guy setting the lines is a personal friend of Al Davis or he is a huge Randy Moss fan.

NBA amnesty reactions

I caught up with nine of the 18 players whose contracts were claimed by the new CBA’s amnesty provision. Needful (note this is NOT needless) to say, Reggie Miller and the rest had a lot on their mind.

Just A Novelty?

If you venture into the 85-degree summer nights that San Bernardino California has to offer, you might stumble upon what some call a “diamond in the rough”. Nestled in downtown San Bernardino amongst the not so booming nightlife is Arrowhead Credit Union Park.

Top Five- Bottom Three

August is upon us and some teams have already established themselves as favorites in their respective conferences.  Between returning starters and new additions, the offseason has dictated some preseason favorites to win it all.  On the other side of the ball, certain teams have been eliminated from competition before a regular season game has occurred.  Whether it was a bad draft, no significant signings, or a major injury, these teams will be fighting to stay out of the basement all season.

Breaking Down the AFC

by Trevor Freeman

If the NFL had a playoff system like the NCAA Tournament, where each team that won their division got an automatic bid and the rest of the tourney got filled out by the next best teams, AFC fans would rejoice.  This is because the AFC would probably fill just about every at-large bid.  You can make a very strong argument that seven of the NFL’s ten best team are in the AFC.  From the Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots to the “on the cusp” Houston Texans, the AFC is flat out loaded.  The AFC East and West look to be particularly bruising.  Since we began in the “Not So Wild” NFC West for our NFC preview we start back East for my AFC version.

Defending the Devil

The Yankees are the Evil Empire. They sign the best players, and generally a) finish over 500 and b) play baseball in October. They draw more fans than anyone else in the league. And you know why? George Steinbrenner.

MLB Power Rankings August 17 2005

Another week of MLB action has gone by (or, if you’re a Royals fan, perhaps inaction is a better term). Here are the latest power rankings, and of course questions and comments are welcome.

Every baby needs playtime

When a 32-year-old man is whining and complaining on national TV, two things come to mind. Either the man is on the Jerry Springer show or he is Terrell Owens.

A Painful Confession

Sitting down during the brutal heat of August, foreign thoughts rummage through my mind.

Damn, still two games back, and Shit, the Phils are a half game back of the Astros, and Maybe we can catch them all if McKeon could get fired or realize that he should never use his bullpen.

And then I think, Why am I thinking about baseball?
