2011 NFL Week 14 Picks and Podcast

The podcast this week is about as good as the featured games. Take that for what it’s worth. RJ is down to his last $5 and he’s trying to figure out whether he can bet it all or just hang on betting $3.30 to win $3 so he can take the bus home. Also, Jeff Garcia has a job? Most people would have to take a moment when asked Jeff Garcia: Dead, Alive, or Canadian.

The featured games this week are Texans at Bengals, Bears at Broncos, and Giants at Cowboys.

2011 NFL Week 13 Picks and Podcast

Lucky week 13, where real teams start thinking about home field advantage and pretenders start shooting themselves in the… thigh. We’re publishing this before Suh’s appeal but we’re assuming that you do not get to stomp on another player and not get suspended two games.

The featured games this week are Raiders at Dolphins, Packers at Giants, and Lions at Saints.

MLB’s New HGH Test More Smoke and Mirrors

By Diane M. Grassi

Major League Baseball’s (MLB) latest feat of extended “labor peace” with the Major League Players Association (MLBPA) was reached on November 22, 2011.

And in this latest Basic Agreement between the parties, which will run five years in duration and expire on December 1, 2016, MLB has apparently won out in its attempt to curb illicit use of human growth hormone (HGH), by its players. However, such a test could prove to be little more than a charade, as it stands now.

2011 NFL Week 12 Picks and Podcast

Oh I how love Thanksgiving. We used to get one good game and the Detroit Lions. Now the Lions are in the marquee matchup of the day, the Cowboys are always fun to watch/root against, and the extra NFL Network game is also an intriguing showdown.

Hey did you guys know Jim and John Harbaugh are brothers? Funny how the media hasn’t touched upon this angle yet. It is one of our featured games though because it’s a matchup of division leaders. The other featured games are Packers at Lions, Broncos at Chargers, and Patriots at Eagles.

You can download the podcast directly (running time 90 mins) or subscribe to the feed. The weekly picks show is followed by a half hour of Poor Man’s PTI where we discuss the NBA situation.

Every week we try to feature 4 exciting games on the podcast. It was a struggle to even find 2.

Your (sorta) Featured Games this week are Jaguars at Browns, Bills at Dolphins, Raiders at Vikings, and Chargers at Bears. We challenge you to find another game that’s significantly better than these.

Cricket blogger and Penn State alumnus Subash Jayaraman joins in at the hour mark to discuss the feel in State College and give his view of the feeling of shock and anger that plagues the town this week.

2011 NFL Week 9 Picks and Podcast

We’re halfway through the NFL season and it’s actually getting harder to pick the games. Outside of the Packers (I just jinxed them), are there any great teams / sure things in the NFL this year? The Sunday night battle between the Steelers and the Ravens should answer a lot of questions in that regard. But in the NFC, the Niners might clinch their division before thanksgiving and nobody really knows it they are a legitimate contender. Meanwhile the NFC South is up for grabs and the Lions are the best wildcard team. Madness.

The featured games this week are Bucs at Saints, Jets at Bills, Packers at Chargers, and Ravens at Steelers.

By the way, if you’ve ever wondered (and you probably haven’t) what Ryan and I talk about off the air, here’s an outtake because I accidentally left the recorder on: idle chit chat

2011 NFL Week 8 Picks and Podcast

Not a very good week last week for some of us but we’ll rebound this week. (Everyone who picked Jacksonville to win the game, raise your hand.) There are some intriguing matchups this week but the last two games on Sunday, Patriots/Steelers and Cowboys/Eagles are the big draws. We’ll also find out how the Lions rebound from adversity and whether Tim Tebow was a half game fluke last week.

The featured games this week are Jaguars @ Texans, Lions @ Broncos, Patriots @ Steelers, and Cowboys @ Eagles.

MLB Files Suit On Manner of Exposed Finances

AS CBA EXPIRATION APPROACHES

By Diane M. Grassi

Major League Baseball (MLB) should be enjoying the fruits of an above average 2011 post-season performance, which will be crucial to the impending expiration of its Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with the Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA) on December 31, 2011.
