Images of Tom Brady’s Superbowl drives come to mind when watching Vince Young’s performance at the end of the Rose Bowl. Cool, calm, and collected. There isn’t a question that he can compete on the next level. He has put up the best quarterback efficiency in the country, and his best performance of all came when the pressure was on, big time. Being down five points and needing a touchdown to win in the National Championship with 19 seconds left was the situation.
Vince Young owned it
People say he is Mike Vick with an arm, or Tom Brady with legs.
He says he’s Vince Young.
And the only question that surrounds Vince Young is, if he wants to enter the Draft, and if he does where does he fall.

For the last few months Reggie Bush has displayed some of the best college performances ever seen. From 513 all-purpose yards to winning the Heisman. He has been regarded by most as the best college running back of all time. And people like Sean Salisbury think he, if put into the NFL right now, would be one of the top five backs in the league.
What happens to what everyone thought as the lock to the first overall pick. Is he still atop the list, or does Vince Young show him what it feels like to be #2?

This brings us to Houston, winners of what was the “Bush Bowl”. Or was it really the “Vince Young Bowl”?
Houston has 3 options. Reggie, Vince, or a trade.
Their main needs at this moment are offensive lineman. Vince Young is a quarterback, Reggie Bush is a running back.
This is the situation that Houston is blessed with:
David Carr, if given a good offensive line, can be an effective quarterback. Such as last year when he passed for 3500 yards. The same goes for Dominack Davis, who was 26 yards away from 1000 on the season, with the worst offensive line in the league. Both are under the age 27.Should they keep the #1 pick or trade it away?
Trade it.
The only situation that would cause the Texans to keep their #1 pick would be if they revamped their offensive line in Free Agency. If they don’t, drafting one player is not going to solve Houston’s myriad of problems. It is going to take many players to fix this team.
Then the question wouldn’t be who would be taken first overall, it’d be which team is capable of trading for it.
What ever happens this Draft Houston will be enjoying it, because the winner of the Bush/Young Bowl got much more than they bargained for.
But, then again Vince still has to declare.

hate to say… I told you so! You put down Vince the whole year. I said I would rather have the ball in his hands when the game is on the line and you chose Reggie. Looks like you have finally seen the light; it’s about time.
Vince has declared I think Texans should trade for picks and get a decent O-line. Neither Carr nor Young can survive.
Personally, I’d trade all the way down and take LenDale White
Vince Young Vince Young will never make it in the NFL. Can you say Tommy Frazier, Akili Smith, Scott Frost, Eric Crouch, Kordell Stewart?
The list goes on and on. He throws like a girl, and he is appears so much bigger and stronger because he is playing against collegians. I’d take Bush, White and Lienart WAY ahead of Vince. I have to give credit to Young for single-handedly beating USC, but why has Matt Lienart’s stock dropped so much? All he did was throw darts through a good UT defense, and if he had 30 more seconds would have won the game. Gimme a break. Young will be Ryan Leaf to Lienart’s Peyton Manning.
If i were going QB I’d take Leinart.
Just keep doubting him and talking sh*t — USC fans, General football public, and Mr. SportsColumn…you;ve doubted Vince all year. You started with he can’t throw (see college football’s 2005 passing efficiency leader). Then he’d most certainly have to change positions at the pro level (see 1st or 2nd QB taken in this year’s draft). Then it was Texas is good, but USC might be the best ever (see 2005 nta’l champions).
Keep doubting, keep naysaying, keep running your mouth. He’s not listening. He’s not conventional – neither was Brett Favre. Oh and USC fan, he’s not Cordell Stewart, if you think that you obviously know nothing about him. This guy is a leader, and will not Ryan Leaf it.
When Vince succeeds I hope you feel like less of a man for your ridiculous comments, and lack of football intelligence.
Lose the Faith,
The Stos
vince youngs intelligence — football intelligence?????what was vince youngs score…..like a 6
