Locks of the Week
Vegas Vinny: (4-5, Balance =$725) Two weeks ago, the Eagles killed the Giants and every Philly fan was riding high. Then they lost to the Cowboys and everyone was ready to jump off the Ben Franklin. It’s looking more and more like the Giants game was the mirage and the lackluster performances against the Redskins and the Cowboys is what you’re going to get with the 2009 Philadelphia Eagles.
Now I know that any time you write the Eagles off, they seem to bounce back and go on a tear. But something smells different this year. And that difference is the defense. While stout up front, the linebacker situation is a mess. They’re rotating anyone they can find, even signing Jeremiah Trotter off the scrap heap to play MLB. That’s middle linebacker, although he might as well be in a baseball uniform as effective as he’s been. Meanwhile, they’ve lost Ellis Hobbs to a neck injury and Joselio Hanson has been suspended for a diuretic. The Chargers high powered passing attack should be able to gain significant yardage because the Eagles simply do not have enough bodies. Couple that with being at home and I don’t understand why this is only a 2.5 point game. I’ll put $110 to win $100 on the Chargers (-2.5).
BostonMac: (6-3, Balance = $1,285) As bad as Tennessee looked in the premature Foxborough snow, the ensuing bye week was enough to put the Titans back on the right track, the track that we all thought they’d have been on if only Jeff Fisher had been smart enough to start Vince Young from Week One. I can’t believe I just wrote that sentence. Either way, they are playing at home against a weak Buffalo team featuring midseason LVP candidate Terrell Owens. The Bills looked frisky a few weeks ago, but they have plummeted since. Since I’m on a bit of a down streak, I’ll put $55 to win $50 on TENNESSEE (-7).
RJ: (3-6, Balance = $870) Two weeks ago the Cardinals were blindsided at home by an inferior opponent after a huge road win. If Ken Whisenhunt (or Bill Cowher Lite if you prefer) is any kind of coach, he doesn’t let that happen again in the exact same situation with the Seahawks coming in. The Cardinals completely mercy-ruled Seattle a month ago on the road, and there’s no reason it shouldn’t happen again (nor will I ever verb words like mercy rule again. Sorry). Phoenix/Glendale(-8.5) stays awake long enough to take care of business. 110/100.

C-H-E-FS CHEFS CHEFS CHEFS!I don’t know why but I love nailing those garbage picks. I could’ve been 1-14 but as long as I got that game right I’m good
The chiefs are now 4-30 in their last 34. The Chiefs current win streak in Oakland is 3 games.
