Locks of the Week

[Editor’s Note: This year, we’re making the Locks of the Week a little more interesting as we have a side bet amongst the four experts. The person with the most money at the end of the year in Locks betting takes home all the money. Disclaimer: The amounts discussed are for illustrative and entertainment purposes only. Vegas Vinny: First off, can I borrow $5? Cool. Thanks. Ok, now that I have $770, I’m going to put it all on the Dolphins to go up to the Meadowlands and win this game for the division. I’m not sure how they went from 1-15 to division champs but they are going to do it. This shows you what a strong defense (and an injury to Tom Brady) can do for you. On the other side of the ball, it seems the NY Favres are fading into December as Brett Favre is wont to do more and more into the tail end of his career. How can you lose to the Seahawks with the division up for grabs?

I also love this game because it’s a revenge game for Chad Pennington. After they signed Favre, they treated Pennignton like the hamster after the family gets a dog. (No, I don’t mean shoving him up a rectum — I don’t know what kind of family you come from. Sicko.) Anyway, Chad quickly became the leader of a young Dolphins team and they actually believe they can win… so they can. I’ll take the 3 points and a backdoor cover but I like the Dolphins outright. (Balance= $765)

BostonMac: You look at the line in the Denver-San Diego ga me, and you can see what Vegas is thinking. The Broncos are reeling. After Week 14, the AFC West was dormie, as they say in golf match play. The Chargers had to win out, and Denver had to lose out. Somehow, the impossible has happened, and the Chargers are on the verge of an improbable division championship and a playoff home game at 8-8, and the Broncos will be the first team to blow a three-game division lead with three to play. But don’t be fooled. The Chargers might be Vegas’ darlings right now, but they still are a team that will find a way to lose. They don’t have a killer instinct. They basically embody everything that is sick, twisted, and evil about professional sports. Hyperbole, you ask? Bet on them on Sunday at your own risk. I’m in the lead going into Week 17 after I crushed my Patriots lock last week, but let’s let it all ride on the great Mike Shanahan and the Broncos. I’ll put $440 to win $400 on DENVER (+8) to win the division title and spare us the indignity of a .500 Chargers team with a home game and an 11-5 Patriots team sitting on the sidelines. (Balance = $1480)

Trevor F:I love the Patriots this week against Buffalo. The Patriots have to win
this game in order to make the postseason and I think they do it with
style. Look for them to easily cover that spread. This game has Matt
Cassel throwing for 300 yards and three touchdowns by the half written all
over it. The Bills have nothing to play for and will not be able to match
what the Patriots will throw at them from the outset. Look for New
England fans to be more concerned with scoreboard watching than with this
game by the end of the second quarter. Love the Pats. Love the points.
Betting $110. (Balance = $1230)

RJ: (Balance = $0)
