Every year the college basketball world is swept off their feet by the Cinderella story of Gonzaga. Can anyone explain just what makes everyone think they are going to be national title contenders every year? So a few years ago this small school from Washington State had a great season and a great run in the NCAA tournament, and now everyone thinks they are the next big thing in college basketball. Please tell me people aren’t serious with this because they are the most overrated team in college basketball’s top 25.
Every since their great runs in the 2000 and 2001 tournaments they have been nothing but busts. They lost in the first round in 2002 and followed with three consecutive second round losses. This team is not as great as everyone thinks and they should stop being ranked so high in the preseason polls.
This year Gonzaga started out hot with wins over Maryland and Michigan State, but that’s nothing unusual. Every year they start off with a hard out of conference schedule because they have no choice. They have been so hyped up that in order to keep that hype going they have to beat top ranked teams. Well surly they look great early on once they beat a ranked team but then their bandwagon’s axels start to bend as everyone jumps on. If they are so good than why have they had four consecutive early trips home from the tournament?
Well just look at their conference. They play nobody for two whole months before the tournament. What kind of competition is the University of San Francisco and Santa Clara? For two whole months they are never challenged and then when the tournament comes they get seeded high and then lose to a team like Wyoming. If this team should have any preseason ranking it should be no higher than 20, but that even seems to high.
Gonzaga bandwagon riders better find a new ride because this bandwagon is not heading to any national title in the near future. This team has been hyped up for years now and they do not seem to be living up to it. You can argue all you want about the early big wins but the lack of competition during their conference games does not prepare them for the real college basketball powerhouses they face in March.
This team better leave the WCC and join a conference like the PAC-10 if they ever want some actual competition durring the season. Otherwise this team will be nothing but hype for years to come, and an annoyance to every other team. I’m sure teams like #4Louisville and #3Villanova would like some more attention on sportscenter.

Gonzaga is a very good hoops team you can’t put them down for playing in a bad coference when the prove they can hang with powerhouse teams in powerhouse coferences year after year
The Great White Hype… I will say Gonzaga is a good team this year (I have to, they beat Maryland) but I am sick of hearing about them, especially Adam Morrison. He and J.J. Redick need their own channel so I don’t have to hear about them on Sportcenter all the time.

Gonzaga — For you people who feel Gonzaga is overrated, your pathetic, every year all you hear about is Duke, North Carolina, Kentucky,, etc. Maybe you should cry some place else. Just because Gonzaga has broken into the ratings the last few years, shouldn’t you grow up and act like adults. Come on people.
Zag schedule — When the eastern panty-waists, start scheduling trips to Spokane they can begin to whine…if they win. Gonzaga should get into larger conference possibly, if they can, with just the Basketball program?
