Week 7 NFL Power Rankings

The NFL is a strange place. Just when you think you have it figured out, someone like Indy does something stupid and loses to Jacksonville. At home. But then you have someone like the 5-1 Falcons who you knew weren’t as good as their record and they go out and prove everyone right. We’re almost at the halfway point in the season and it’s looking more and more like a five horse race. Well, here are your horses.

Rank (Pv) Team Record Comment
1 (1) 6-0 They are like the Shadow. They cloud the minds of opposing coaches. What was Herm Edwards thinking on the last drive? New England always finds a way to get it done.
2 (2) 6-0 They’re on a collision course with New England. Pulled out a win despite getting jobbed by the refs on a terrible roughing the passer call.
3 (5) 5-1 Managed to get it done without Randy Moss. Is this the year the Vikings don’t collapse?
4 (4) 5-1 So they drop one to New England, big deal. They still looked better than the Colts. Now, let’s see if they pull a Seattle.
5 (3) 4-2 Every team has a hiccup. I don’t care if they lost to Jacksonville, I’d take Manning over Leftwich any day in the playoffs.
6 (13) 5-2 Surprise team of the year? Yeah, we said the same thing about the Giants before they lost to the Lions and came back to earth. The difference though is Jaguars will get a wildcard.
7 (9) 5-1 Bettis wanted New England undefeated, he gets them. Now, let’s see if this Steelers team is for real.
8 (6) 5-2 Like I said, every team has a hiccup. Losing to Cinci on MNF away isn’t enough to drop them much, especially considering how the other teams jostling for position fared over the weekend.
9 (7) 5-2 That fraud label was being put on the Falcons earlier this season. Getting absolutely smoked by the previously 1 win Chiefs doesn’t help.
10 (12) 4-2 Speaking of frauds, how is Kyle Boller an NFL quarterback? 0…ZERO… yards in the second half.
11 (15) 4-2 Lions can’t win at home but now can’t lose on the road? What the hell is going on here?
12 (14) 4-3 Chargers think they can win this year. As they creep up on Denver, maybe they’re right.
13 (11) 4-2 Uh oh. Does the grumbling about Coughlin’s rigid rules start again? Especially since they have to go up against the Vikings this week.
14 (10) 4-3 You don’t want to be the team to give the Dolphins their first win. Lucky for for the rest of the NFL, Rams already have that honor. Ugly.
15 (8) 3-3 Wait, these guys were supposed to be the NFC representatives to the Super Bowl? One of the best defenses in the league? Made Emmitt Smith look good and that’s hard to do.
16 (16) 3-3 They have a chance this week to make the division a 3 horse race.
17 (17) 3-4 Valiant effort against the Eagles. Garcia no doubt fired up by the TO antics. They won’t challenge for the division though.
18 (19) 3-4 Looks like Green Bay isn’t quite dead in the water yet. With Washington next up, they should be .500 at the bye.
19 (20) 3-4 NFC South is the worst division in football.
20 (25) 2-4 I don’t understand this league anymore. KC runs for 8 TDs against the #1 rushing defense in football?
21 (26) 1-4 Very impressive win vs the Broncos but do the Cinci CBs know that you only flash the #1 sign when you get into the endzone? What the hell was that?
22 (30) 2-5 The teams in this section are like crabs. They only move up by pulling each other down.
23 (22) 2-5 Like all of the Bay Area, I never get a chance to watch the Oakland home games because they can’t sell out. They can’t sell out because 1) they stink 2) Grandma Davis is a greedy bastard.
24 (21) 2-4 Oh man, this team is brutal. Green Bay pulls a halfback pass for the second week in a row. Do these guys watch game film?
25 (18) 2-5 Billy Volek. Season over.
26 (23) 2-4 The good news is they haven’t lost for 2 straight weeks!
27 (29) 2-4 I’ve been fooled by this “resurgence in the desert” business before. But the defense is playing great.
28 (31) 1-5 Bye week floats this turd to the top.
29 (24) 1-5 I guess the devil is collecting on the deal they made last year.
30 (32) 1-6 Congrats, Miami. You won’t be 0-16. But 1-15 is still a real possibility.
31 (27) 1-5 They lost to a team without their starting RB and with Kyle Boller at QB. That’s just pathetic.
32 (28) 1-5 SF vs Chicago on Sunday Night Football? Might get just slightly better ratings than Gomer Pyle reruns.

The NFL is downright terrible right now… …The only teams I see worth jack$hit to win it all are:

  • NE
  • PHI
  • INDY
  • MINN

The rest of the NFL sucks.

And why is that? I dont see why you think the NFL isnt worth “jackshit”. What about Leftwich and Roethlisburger and Seattle undrperforming and the Lions playing well. A lot of great storylines this season.

…UM…the line was… JACKSHIT “to win it”.

Meaning the title. Meaning the SUPER BOWL.

The NFL is always a blast and their are a ton of story lines.

Hell – I think the CARDINALS are going to make the playoffs. Watch that.

But I said only a handful are worth jackshit to win it all.

Isnt that usually the case… …usually there are only a handful of teams at best with the chance to win the super bowl. I can count a few: Eagles, Pats, Jets, Colts, Vikings, Steelers are lookin good this year, Seattle if they can turn things around, Broncos are overachieving expectations and have a legitimate shot. Its not just a couple of teams, and even those that probably wont win the SB, its still exciting to watch.
