USC’s mistakes- Young’s magic give Texas the title

By Sean Quinn

Vince Young’s game-winning 9-yard touchdown run with 19 seconds left in the game wasn’t just great, it was clutch. That run, though, as impressive as it was, didn’t win the game for the Longhorns. Young’s game, which accumulated in a BCS game record 467 yards of total offense, only contributed to Texas’ 41-38 win over USC in the Rose Bowl. It was USC’s unprecedented unforced errors and coaching that snapped the Trojans’ 34-game winning streak and gave the Longhorns’ lone star the brightness of sunny Pasadena.

Manny Being Shopped

by Ernie Siciliano

The Boston Red Sox are sick of Manny Ramirez being Manny Ramirez. So sick that according to a recent rumor they offered Ramirez, Matt Clement, and cash to Baltimore for Miguel Tejada. Now that is sick.

For the sake of argument let’s assume Miguel Tejada and Manny Ramirez are equally talented hitters (as I’ll explain later that’s not the case, Ramirez is better). The Red Sox then want to sweeten the deal by adding Matt Clement, their opening day starter last year and a guy who went 13-6, and pay the Orioles cash to ensure that the deal is completed.

We Are Penn State Football – Conclusion

Continued from “We Are Penn State Football – Part III”

“Being perfect is not about that scoreboard out there. It’s not about winning. It’s about you and your relationship with yourself, your family and your friends. Being perfect is about being able to look your friends in the eye and know that you didn’t let them down because you told them the truth. And that truth is you did everything you could. There wasn’t one more thing you could’ve done. Can you live in that moment as best you can, with clear eyes, and love in your heart, with joy in your heart? If you can do that gentleman – you’re perfect!”

– Coach Gary Gaines, “Friday Night Lights”

Early Wednesday morning Penn State Football proved to the College Football world they were a team who were about as perfect as one can get.

Confessions of a College Football Semi-Fan

I’m not a huge College Football fan.  I didn’t go to a big school.  (In fact, it wasn’t even a club sport until the year I graduated.  But I digress…) Right now, I’m flipping back and forth between the AT&T Cotton Bowl, the Capital One Bowl, and the Toyota Gator Bowl.  I include the full name because, well, they paid for it.  But that’s just the point.  These sponsors and alumni have to be the only ones who really care about these bowl games.

Adam Morrison Is Hard To Root Against

The biggest story in college basketball this year is the outstanding play of Gonzaga player Adam Morrison. It’s not just because the man is averaging 28 point a game or because he hits unbelievable clutch shots. It’s because of the amazing story behind him and what he goes through just to be able to play the game he loves.

Double Digit Losses Again- What Should The Lions Do?

The Detroit Lions finished 5-11 this year. They are 21-59 over the past 5 seasons. They have four offensive players who were drafted in the top ten of the first round who have produced little or nothing. They have a clueless owner, and an in-over-his-head general manager. They don’t have a permanent head coach, and will soon be without a starting or backup quarterback.

Although it would seem that their options are limitless, the truth is the Lions have but one or two choices to make to solidify the direction, or misdirection, of the franchise for the next 5 seasons.
