Tonight, Todd Bertuzzi finds himself with a new address. The former Islander turned Canuck was traded to the Florida Panthers along with Alexander Auld, and Byran Allen for Roberto Luongo, Lukas Kraijeck , and a 2006 sixth round draft pick. With that, this ends two years of controversy.

With the field down to 16 and with the playoff portion of the tournament set the true world cup begins. Here is a breakdown of what to expect, organized by halves, as if there were a bracket.
Insane in the Membrane

It seems that these days, winning is second nature on the south side of Chicago. Jose Contreras wins every time he is out there. Jim Thome and Paul Konerko seem to produce offensively almost every time they take the field. Yes, the White Sox seem to have that winning attitude.
Of course, the same cannot be said for Ozzie Guillen and his incredibly big mouth. Yesterday (Thursday 6/22), Guillen was fined, suspended, and ordered to attend sensitivity training for slurs against Chicago Sun-Times columnist Jay Mariotti. More on that later.
NHL Awards Night
Ladies and gentlemen, put on your tuxes, because it is time for the NHL’s annual awards ceremony. Tonight, we honor the best the NHL had to give us this year. Here is a breakdown of awards and who got them, along with my analysis of what happened.
Made In Wade
Let’s go Heat! Let’s go Heat! Three words that bring excitement and joy to the hearts of Miami Heat fans and three words that cause heartache and dejection for the entire state of Texas. The Miami Heat, yes the same Heat that once started Harold Minor, are the 2005-06 NBA world champions. After a year of battling doubt, skepticism, and adversity the Miami Heat got the last laugh by defeating the Dallas Mavericks 4 – 2 to win their first championship in franchise history.
Team USA- A non-American’s thoughts
I don’t agree with a lot of what Americans have been saying about London. I like the food, the way I’m spoken to, and the charming man who talks about Jesus with a microphone in Oxford Street.
With all the commotion of the seven-game NHL championship series, the thrilling NBA playoffs, US Open, and the largest sporting event in the entire world, The World Cup all going on at the same time, is anybody actually watching baseball?
2006 US Team has set soccer back 30 years
This team was ranked #5 in the world.
This team was the best we’ve ever sent to the World Cup.
This team was going to show the world that US Soccer is thriving and competitive.
This team is a disgrace.
Dead and Buried- Yet Still Going Strong
The verbal barrage came from sports writers all over the country. A half-hearted effort, they said. They are clearly outmatched, they said. The coach is irresponsible for publicly bashing his players, they said. This team is clearly broken, they said. No chance in even competing with Italy or the rest of the world, they also said.
So where are all of these opining “soccer experts,” now? Well, they’re resting, and not just their mouths and their pens. They are resting their bodies, getting to bed early, so they can get up and cheer for their precious U.S. World Cup team, the team they left for dead just a half a week before.

Remember 2001? That year, Luis Gonzalez was last seen jumping up and down along the first base line, celebrating the hit that won the Fall Classic. Curt Schilling and Randy Johnson were seen holding the MVP trophy, for both were named co-MVP’s of the series. Bob Brenly, the ex-FOX broadcaster, was a World Series-winning manager. Byung-Hyun Kim mistakes aside, the Diamondbacks were world champions.
Where have those days gone?
A couple of trades the D-Backs have made along the way have not worked out for the better. Players have left and succeeded elsewhere, while those who have come to the desert have stuggled.
